Chapter 16 - Typhir

Ivy woke up in his residence. His expression was bizarre because he couldn't believe everything ended just like that. It wasn't that the Black Star couldn't talk. In fact, It spoke something unexpectedly.

Flashback#

' YOU'RE TOO WEAK GET STRONGER '

It seemed he was so weak that his Star Link stayed silent until after he formed the Link

[ Master, congratulations on the completion of Star Link Formation. Now you have officially begun your path of no return ]

The voice of the old man jolted Ivy out of his trance. He quickly pulled off his clothes to confirm if the Star Link insignia was there.

Behold, there it was, a little above his heart. Ivy closed his eyes as he tried to inspect his inner body. Surprisingly, nothing seemed to have changed from the inside.

Confused by the result, Ivy asked " How does the Star Link work?"

[ The Star Link is a connection between the master and a Star. It is a channel-engine responsible for transforming special energy from a Star to the body. To activate, the master needs to focus on the Link to be able to activate its power]

Ivy closed his eyes as he focused solely on the area above his chest. In response, as if answering Ivy's call, the Link activated with a blinding glow as it connected him to the Black Star.

Screeeeeeeeech*

*ARGH--

A bizarre scream slipped Ivy's lips as a strange Star energy evaded his body while simultaneously opening over two thousand of his Acupuncture Points. The Star energy channeled itself into Ivy, flooding his entire pathway system with a monstrous power.

BOOM...

The sudden tremor was so intense, that it generated a shock wave powerful enough to collapse the building on him.

Meanwhile.....

Earlier that morning, in the Grand Hall, there were two individuals seated having a conversation. The atmosphere was bleak as they both maintained mutual silence. The first individual was the Patriarch, Kane who was adorned in royal red robes as he rested on his majestic throne. Kane's expression was as calm as a lake as he stared at the young man who stood before him. A young man seemingly in his early twenties six-foot tall handsome man was the carbon copy of his father, as they both had golden hair and amber eyes. Typhir adorned in grey-colored robes stood firm as he also stared at his father with the same calm expression. The atmosphere in the Grand Hall grew heavier as the seconds ticked. If by chance Ivy stepped into the Grand Hall during this showdown between father and son, he would collapse at a rate faster than his mind could think and his body wouldn't hold on to the pressure they generated for even a second.

'Drop'

Typhir fell to his knees as even his body couldn't hold on to the strain exerted by the Patriarch, Kane. However, he still stared at his father with calm eyes, unwilling to lose to the staring contest. Typhir could feel his body shivering slightly as he tried his best to hold on for a little longer. Just when he was reaching his utmost limit..

"That's enough, Typhir. You've grown stronger than the last time I saw you. You can be proud of that. But...you are yet to reach your full potential." The voice of a proud father echoed, sweeping away the pressure like it never existed.

'Fuu...

Low pants escaped Typhir's lips as a broad smile rested on them. He felt prideful of the praise as it wasn't from a nobody, but from a terrifying figure whom he was proud of as his very own father, Kane Sunshine.

Unfortunately, such pride was short-lived as a frown appeared on his face due to his father's next words.

"Why don't you quit the military? There's nothing of value they can offer you that'll be better than what I can provide." Kane suggested to his son who had joined the military for a long time now. But he has yet to excavate his full potential.

"I'm sorry father. I can't quit the military at this point. Especially when our enemy is at our doorstep. I'm also now a Captain Rank officer. I now have responsibilities to fulfill. " Typhir apologetically said.

*Hmph

"Why do you visit then? I hope you weren't sent by those old geezers to beg for my help. If so, I decline right away. I'm too lazy to play with those old geezers or engage with those puny things." Kane flatly stated with a prideful expression.

"Can you please reconsider, Father? THE NINE GRAND COMMANDERS promise to fulfill all your requirements. Those monstrosities causing havoc have become more active in the last five years. They seem to have colluded with dark organizations to fuel their aggressions against the Kingdom. They also seem to have found means to transport their armies through void tears. It is for this reason I'm here as the logistics had located a void tear in the Northern Outskirts. Our scouts have discovered a way to track their actions in this direction. " Typhir explained as he tried to persuade his father.

"Why don't you contact your elder brothers? They should be of great help..." Kane questioned

"Eldest brother had gone missing for a while now. It's unknown where he is at but I'm sure he's still breathing as I have one of his Life Liner as a precaution. While Second eldest brother is currently recuperating from a grievous wound he suffered by a very powerful monstrosity that went on a rampage before its death." Typhir narrated as conflicting emotions troubled his mind and affected his tone.
