Hayang's purple eyes stared at the creeping frost. For a moment, she looked genuinely surprised. Then, that serene, sorrowful smile returned to her lips. She didn't panic or call upon a weapon.
"A brilliant move," she murmured, her breath pluming in the freezing air. "You have completely locked the board. My father warned us of Zionia's defenders, but witnessing it is another matter."
"Then tell your father this is a war he cannot win," I said, keeping the tip of my rapier leveled at her chest.
Hayang smirked slightly as she raised her hand.
I flew forward, ready to stab her, but the dark cloud of mist that had formed from all the destroyed Umbra-Class Abysmals condensed into a shield.
My rapier struck the barrier with a deafening screech. It felt like plunging my blade into a wall of solid iron, the impact sending violent tremors all the way up my arm.
But the mist didn't just block my attack. It ignited.
