I blinked as I watched Eijiro looking dazed in the middle of the garden as our great-grandson's kids collected roses.
Tiptoeing toward him, I tapped him on the shoulder, causing him to jolt and turn to face me. His face was flushed with embarrassment. "What is it?"
"Why are you standing there, frozen like a deer caught in headlights?" I asked, tilting my head to the side. "You look like you've seen a ghost or something."
Eijiro shook his head. "No, I was just… remembering the past."
I swung my hands behind my back and sighed. "Thought so. You always have that look on your face when you think about what happened eight-hundred years ago."
He rubbed his forehead, his green eyes downcast. "I don't know why, but the memories of those times seem to be coming back to me more often these days. I wonder if I'm missing the action or something."
I shrugged. "Maybe? But, I don't think that's it."
"Then, what is it?"
