I took a deep breath as we entered the city gate. My earlier bravado was wearing off. To think I would see that man again, and here of all places. The weight of Setsugen's visit lingered in the air, heavy and suffocating. It felt like my home had been broken into.
Eiro walked beside me, his hand firmly gripping mine, offering me a sense of comfort amidst the chaos. His golden eyes held a steady strength like the Great Mountain in the center of Zionia.
I smiled, feeling all warm and fuzzy from touch. It was as if his strength seeped into me, helping to push aside the creeping dread that had settled in my chest. Eiro had always had that effect on me; he made me feel safe, cherished, and most importantly, loved.
As we walked through the bustling streets, I could hear the chatter of the townspeople and the laughter of children playing nearby. Their joy felt distant, almost like a dream, but it reminded me of what we were fighting for.
