While my father still lived, I was often lonely as he was usually away on active duty. Especially right now with warlords and the Grand Dukes fighting for control of the kingdom.
Although, even when he was home, my father was often stern. I liked to think it was because he was a military man, but I could recall when he would smile warmly. It was likely because I had accidentally taken his beloved wife. The memory of that fateful day haunted me. I could still hear her cries, the way the ice had enveloped her in an unforgiving embrace. I had only wanted to show her my powers, to share something that I thought was beautiful, but it had turned into a nightmare.
Now, my father's gaze often felt like ice itself—cold and distant. I imagined he probably wished he could get rid of his cursed child, the girl who had stolen away his happiness. The guilt weighed heavily on my shoulders, a burden I couldn't escape.
