I smiled as I carried Anis on my back while Rose cooked us breakfast. She wanted to go see her pegasus foal, Primera. She had been born two years ago to Rose's pegasus and mine. Anis had been utterly enchanted by her ever since.
"Primera, my pretty pegasus," Anis sang as we got closer to the pegasus pen. It was located at the northernmost edge of the land my ma gave me when I married Rose. The pen was a beautiful area, surrounded by lush green grass and wildflowers swaying gently in the breeze.
As we approached, I could hear my war pegasus, Tempest, whining softly as he drank from a nearby pond. His powerful frame glimmered in the sunlight, and I could see the strong muscles ripple beneath his coat. He lifted his head, his golden eyes meeting mine, and I smiled back at him.
Tempest stared up at Anis.
"Hey, Primera's dada! Me here to see her!" Anis called out, wriggling in anticipation on my back.
