The truth was out there, and I was going to find it, even if it meant tearing down every wall in the hospital to do so.
I stepped out of the toxicology lab, the image of those telltale crystals burned into my mind. I needed to report my findings, to push for a more targeted investigation. As I turned towards the Minister's suite, I spotted Dr. Evans heading my way, his expression a mix of urgency and concern.
"Dr. Alayna," he called out, his voice tight. "I was just coming to find you. We need to talk. The Minister's condition has taken a turn." He gestured towards a small conference room down the hall. "Can you spare a few minutes?"
"Of course, Doctor," I replied, my heart sinking. A turn for the worse could mean anything. Had the toxin spread further? Were his organs beginning to fail? "What's happened?"
"I'd rather discuss it with the team," he said, his gaze unwavering. "Let's head to the conference room."
