Chapter 6: Ultimate Despair Unleashed Upon the World

[****]

Alex POV

Location: abandoned subway base, Musutafu, Japan.

Date: April 20, 2214

Time: 9:57 p.m.

"Hahahahaha! I finally did it! I found the secret!" I couldn't help but laugh as I leaned back in my chair in glee as I stared at the computer in front of me.

It took several weeks of constant study of my DNA and Toga's, as well as hacking into Garaki's servers to steal his data on quirks and compare data, but I finally understood these quirks.

It was utterly fascinating, and I could understand why both AFO and Garaki were so enthralled with them. The quirk factor itself was a constantly changing part of the human DNA, as crazy as it sounds, and that is how quirks were able to get so strong in such little time.

With all the new knowledge I acquired, combined with my knowledge of genetics, I finally felt confident in my ability to create a duplicate of a quirk.

And I know the perfect quirk to duplicate first, double the quirk of Jin Bubaigawara, and one of the most overpowered quirks in the series by sheer versatility alone.

Being able to make clones of myself would thoroughly speed up several steps in my carefully crafted plan to take over this world.

Thankfully, I already have Jin's location locked down pat and I just need to go deal with him. Oh yeah, the meeting between Midoriya and All Might is next week. Oh boy, I can't wait to get my hands on All Might's DNA and see how different it is!

"What's got you so excited, Alex-kun?" Toga asked, walking into the train car. She was wearing a white seifuku and a black skirt.

"I finally cracked the code on quirk factors. Also, I told you to fix your hair." I said in annoyance, pointing at the messy buns her hair was in.

"Mou, but I like this style," Toga said with a pout.

"You would think a girl would take care of their hair more," I said with a roll of my eyes as I looked back at the screen.

"Hey, what is that supposed to mean!?" Toga said with indignation as I felt her grab my shoulders and begin to shake me.

I ignored her in favor of pulling out my phone, opening it, and looking at my notes, and I saw that I had testing my fear gas on it.

I need to see how the police, heroes, and HPSC react to an attack on such a large scale.

Standing up, I walked past Toga and made my way to the other train car that I had turned into a secondary home of sorts.

Sitting down, I reached to the side, grabbed the remote, turned on the TV, and switched to the news channel.

"Hey, what's going on?" Toga said sitting next to me.

"My first step," I said, feeling a smirk come onto my face before I pressed a button on my phone, sending the signal to the gas bomb I had set up in Esuha City.

With a sigh, I leaned back, reached up, and grabbed Toga's wrist as she tried to stab me. "Are you ever going to learn?"

"Nope~," Toga said with a wink. "I definitely want to get a taste of your blood again!" Toga said as she pulled her arm back and continued to try and stab me.

"I said you would get some if you were a good girl," I said as I deflected each of Toga's attacks.

It only took a couple of minutes, but the news finally started to cover my attack.

From what I could see, the orange fear gas had spread considerably, covering half the city and still spreading. And the situation on the ground wasn't much better, as communication seemingly went dead for anyone inside.

I wonder what you people are feeling now as your worst fears come to life. I couldn't help but chuckle as I imagined their faces twisted in anguish. But don't worry, I am both the ultimate despair and the ultimate hope, so while I will damn you, I will save you.

3rd Person POV

Location: Esuha City, Japan

Date: April 20, 2214

Time: 10:06 p.m.

Hell. That was what Esuha City has been like ever since the attack that started at 10:00 on the dot.

It started with a huge explosion that shattered the peace, and a cloud of orange gas erupted from a nearby building. The gas quickly drifted towards a busy intersection, where cars, bikes, and pedestrians were moving in different directions. The unsuspecting people had no time to react as they inhaled the gas.

One civilian on the street, a middle-aged man named Hiroshi, looked on in horror as, one by one, spiders crawled out of the woodwork. He began running down the street, completely ignoring the fact that he was now alone as he desperately tried to escape the spiders.

"Ahhhhhhhhh!" Hiroshi looked behind him and immediately regretted it as he saw a sea of spiders crawling toward him.

Hiroshi had never run so fast in his life as he desperately tried to get away, even disregarding the law and using his fire quirk to try and burn the spiders, but it was all for naught as the fire seemed to have no effect at all.

Hiroshi ran for several minutes, but he was unable to escape the wave of spiders that swept over him. He felt their tiny legs crawl up his legs, arms, and chest, arriving at his face. He could only watch in horror as he felt his mouth open involuntarily, allowing the spiders to crawl into his mouth.

Outside of his mind, Hiroshi had killed several people who were burned alive by his flames.

Sakura, another civilian, collapsed in pain as her blood began to pool onto the concrete. Slowly, she looked down and saw the knife sticking out of her chest. Looking up at her assailant, she saw a masked man who was holding another knife.

She recognized this man; it was the man who had killed her parents years ago, making her an orphan.

"You should have died with them, Sakura. But don't worry, I'll send you to your parents real soon." The masked man giddily said as he crouched over Sakura and stabbed her again, causing her to cough up a mouthful of blood.

Sakura reached up and tried to push the man off him, but he simply laughed before he stabbed Sakura through the hand, causing her to scream in pain. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Stop! Stoooop!"

The man began stabbing Sakura over and over again, pulling knives out of nowhere, and laughing maniacally until Sakura had dozens of knives sticking out of her body.

"Oh, it looks like you're still alive, you're much more durable than your parents. But that's fine; that means we can continue playing our game!" The man said as he raised another knife.

'Please kill me, please!' Sakura thought in anguish as she felt the knife stab into her body.

Outside of her mind, Sakura lay on the street, paralyzed from the waist down after having been hit by a car.

Gale, a pro-hero, found himself plummeting into a dark pit as he felt the ground give way under his feet. He fell for several minutes until he slammed into the ground with a large thud.

Looking up, Gale saw the sunlight streaming down on him.

"I better get out of here," Gale said as he prepared to fly out of the hole with his wind quirk. But before he could fly up to the opening, a chain shot out of the ground and wrapped around his wrist.

"What!" Gale said in confusion. "Show yourself, villain!" He yelled as he tried to pull off the chain around his wrist.

He got no answer as another chain wrapped around his other wrist before he was pulled back down to the bottom of the hole.

"Gaahh!" Gale grunted in pain, but he wasn't able to dwell on it as two more chains wrapped around his legs and neck.

"Alright, start filling it up, boys." A loud voice was heard from outside the hole.

"Hey! You people out there, I'm-!" Before he could finish speaking, he saw something being dropped down the hole. As it grew closer, Gale realized that it was a huge amount of dirt.

Gale tried to use his quirk, but it wouldn't respond to his call, so all he could do was close his eyes and brace himself.

A loud thud echoed through Gale's ears, but despite that large sound, he was unharmed.

Opening his eyes, he was greeted by wooden planks in front of his face. He also noticed that his hero outfit had changed into a black suit.

"No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! Let me out of here; I'm not dead! I'm alive! Let me out of here!" Gale couldn't help but begin to thrash inside what he assumed was a coffin, but he couldn't do anything with the chains around his body.

With every minute, Gale heard more and more thumps as more dirt was placed above him, and with each second, the air became thinner and thinner.

'No… I can't... die here.' Gale thought as he passed out.

"There, with that, we have finished burying the hero Gale." A man outside the grave said with a smile before walking away.

Outside Gale's mind, he had tried to save people, but he flew into the fear gas, causing him to fall and break most of his bones during the fall.

Alloy, another pro-hero, felt his body corroding and crumbling at the seams. His quirk metal made it, so his entire body was made out of metal. And while it was susceptible to erosion, it shouldn't be happening this fast.

"Ah?" Alloy fell to the ground hard, having lost his footing. Looking down, Alloy's eyes widened in horror as he saw that his foot was now gone.

"No, stop, I don't want to go!" Alloy screamed as more of his body crumbled away, turning to dust in the wind.

He tried desperately to crawl away from whatever force was withering him away, but even that didn't last long as his arms crumbled away.

'I want to live; I have to live!' Alloy thought, using his teeth to slowly inch forward.

But his efforts were fruitless in the end, as before long all that was left was his tear-stained eye, which crumbled away as well.

Scenes like these played in the minds of pro-heroes, villains, and civilians without discrimination.

And it wasn't until 2:00 a.m. that the gas finally cleared out with the help of several air-based quirk pro heroes, and what they saw was terrifying. Injured and dead people lay on the ground, car accidents were littered everywhere going into buildings and other cars, and the signs of quirk usage were evident due to the various residue elements or broken ground that was too far away to be caused by the cars, and fires around the city turned the night skyline a mix of orange and red.

In a news station, a man sat in front of the camera. He had noticeable wrinkles on his face, slicked back greenish hair, two horns on his head, though one was cut off, and he wore a suit consisting of a dark blue blazer, a pale pink shirt, and a brown tie, as well as his square-shaped glasses.

"W-welcome everyone. As you know, I am Daikaku Miyagi, your main newscaster here at TJN. Anyway, I won't mince words today. Esuha City was attacked yesterday at 10:00 p.m. It was a tragic villain attack that took the lives of thousands. We'll be sending you over to the ground team to get more information." Daikaku said solemnly.

News headlines that morning would be filled with the fact that 400,000 people were affected by the gas and there were 2,000 confirmed deaths, and that number was still rising as more people were discovered.

Alex POV

Location: abandoned subway base, Musutafu, Japan.

Date: April 21, 2214

Time: 2:20 A.M.

"So, Toga, what do you think of the performance I put on?" I asked Toga with a smile as I tilted my head in her direction, allowing me to see her expression.

And what an expression it was. It was the expression of a starstruck child as she stared at the screen in awe.

She then turned to me with a huge smile on her face. "Alex-kun, that was amazing! You caused all that mayhem, and you weren't even there! And you're going to do more stuff like this!?"

"Yup, after all, to change something, you first have to be willing to break it apart."

"Then I'll follow you one hundred percent!" Toga said excitedly as she stood up from her chair and pulled me along with her.

Heh, good. She hasn't even realized that she's been under my control since the start. I would never leave a variable like you to go on your own to do as you please; that's why you were brainwashed, Toga. For my sake and mine alone.
