This scene does a good job building the emotional conflict between Siera and Johnthan. The tension feels believable because neither of them instantly falls head over heels after discovering the bond. Their personalities still clash, which makes the relationship more interesting. I also like that Siera has strong goals outside of romance. That gives her character depth.
I cleaned up the grammar, tightened the pacing, and made the emotional beats hit harder while keeping your style and dialogue intact.
After leaving the house and hearing Dad had to work late with Alpha Lee, I couldn't really stay mad at him. I loved my dad, and Alpha Lee was like a second father to Jason and me.
Even if Johnthan and I couldn't stand each other, he was still a good future Alpha.
Thomas, Jasmin, and I headed to the mall, home to the biggest movie theater in the northern mountains. None of us could agree on what to watch, so we flipped a coin.
Fast X won.
We all loved the Fast & Furious saga. I even ordered myself one of the movie shirts before Jason stole it from me. Luckily, I bought a second one.
Honestly, one of the reasons I loved the movies so much was because of Vin Diesel. That man was an amazing actor. And don't even get me started on Ludacris—or excuse me, Christopher Bridges.
That man was dangerous.
Don't let that smile fool you.
Anyone who could survive those fight scenes had to be terrifying in real life. I wouldn't dare fight him or anyone he knew. I always imagined having a mate with a personality like that someday.
Maybe one day I would.
After the movie ended, we spent almost an hour arguing about how the final movie would end. Right in the middle of Thomas insisting nobody important would die, I heard Luna's voice inside my head.
"Our mate is near."
The scent of oak and fresh morning rain suddenly filled the air.
"He's here," I whispered before I could stop myself.
Jasmin stared at me like I had completely lost my mind.
"Um... Siera? Who are you talking about?" she asked, giving me a suspicious look.
"Oh—nothing," I said quickly, trying to ignore the scent surrounding me.
Thomas grinned. "Come on. Let's find you something to wear tonight. You have to impress this mystery mate of yours if he's in our clan."
"Don't steal my lines, Thomas!" Jasmin snapped dramatically.
Before I could answer, a familiar voice ruined the moment.
"Well, look who's here."
My entire body tensed.
Johnthan.
I slowly turned around and groaned.
"Johnthan, I am not in the mood for your ego today."
The second our eyes locked, my world stopped.
And in that exact moment, I realized the Moon Goddess had a twisted sense of humor.
No.
Absolutely not.
I turned and ran.
I could hear everyone yelling my name behind me, but I didn't stop.
"Damn you, Johnthan!" Jasmin shouted from behind us. "You just had to show up today of all days!"
A second later, Johnthan took off after me.
Jason blinked in confusion. "What the hell just happened?"
Thomas sighed heavily. "I seriously fear for both of your future mates."
"Hey!" Jasmin and Jason yelled together.
Thomas shoved his hands into his pockets. "Because you two just witnessed the mate bond between Johnthan and Siera."
Both of them froze.
"The Moon Goddess really chose those two to be together?" Jasmin asked in horror.
Thomas only nodded before walking toward the food court.
Meanwhile...
Johnthan and Siera
Why, Moon Goddess?
Why him?
Why someone so egotistical and emotionally toxic?
Why Johnthan?
"Siera... are you okay?" Johnthan asked carefully.
I sighed.
Speak of the devil.
"Don't do that," he said softly. "I know something's bothering you. We've known each other since we were pups. I'm not that toxic."
I crossed my arms. "Jay, you felt the mate bond too. You're not exactly what I imagined in a mate either."
A small smirk touched his lips. "You're not my first choice either, Si. Doesn't mean I'm rejecting you."
"Jay, we're like fire and ice. We don't work together. We've been fighting since we were kids."
"Maybe that's the point," he murmured.
Before I could move away, he wrapped his arms around my waist.
Sparks shot through my body instantly.
My breath caught.
"Maybe we're supposed to challenge each other," he whispered.
The closeness made my head spin.
"Jay... let go," I whispered weakly. "I can't handle this feeling. It's making me dizzy."
Instead of letting go, he leaned down and kissed me.
At first, I tried to resist.
I really did.
But his scent wrapped around me like a storm after summer heat, calming every chaotic thought in my mind. Slowly, I melted into the kiss.
Several minutes later, we finally pulled apart for air.
"Siera," he said quietly, resting his forehead against mine, "I know you want to go south for college, but why not stay here? That way you won't be so far away from me."
I immediately pushed against his chest.
"Not happening, Johnthan. My career goal is to become the pack doctor—not your personal baby machine."
He stared at me like I had grown two heads.
"That's what you think I want?" he asked sharply. "You seriously think that low of me?"
I lifted an eyebrow.
"You're best friends with the future Beta—my brother. Jason told me exactly what kind of Luna you want. I'm not the 'stay home and pop out pups' type of girl. I wasn't born to spend my life pregnant and barefoot."
His jaw tightened.
"I want to become a doctor," I continued firmly. "And I'm going to the University of Miami to earn my PhD in medicine."
For a moment, he stayed silent.
Then his expression softened slightly.
"I know what you want, Siera. And I'm not going to stop you from chasing it." His voice dropped lower. "But you are mine. You hear me?"
The possessiveness in his tone sent another shiver down my spine.
I smirked despite myself.
"You'll have to catch me first, Alpha Junior."
Before he could grab me again, I slipped from his arms and sprinted toward the mountains, leaving him standing there staring after me.
