Cole sighed as he tugged on the back of Eir's collar. "You're too big to be playing hide and seek like this."
Eir's body stiffened up. "Unhand me, you jerk!"
Cole wanted to facepalm. "You do not fit behind bushes. Cy would probably be unsettled if she saw you, wondering why you were lurking."
His face reddened. "Meanie."
"Enough! You're not in elementary school anymore."
What did Cy do with creeps? Keep smiling politely until she could ease herself away? Or would she actually use whatever self-defense tricks she had tucked up her sleeve? Cole wasn't sure, and the thought made him wince. Either way, she'd be in the right.
Cole pinched the bridge of his nose. "You weren't actually trying to hide, were you?"
Eir puffed his chest out, still crouched behind the spindly bush like it was a fortress. "Of course I was. Surveillance requires subtlety."
