Aiden Sinclair's heart skipped a beat. He looked up at the stage.
Clara Jacobs looked toward the stage as well, her expression one of utter panic.
"Let's have a round of applause for our third-place winner, designer Nina Walsh, as she comes to the stage to accept her award," the host repeated. Behind him, a series of designs appeared on the large screen.
The design, in shades of black and red, used an ingenious structure to perfectly blend edginess and soft femininity.
The applause went on for a long time. Finally, a figure rose from a dark corner, beyond the reach of the spotlights.
Aiden Sinclair's eyes followed the figure. It moved unhurriedly toward the stage, and as the spotlight swiveled to follow, Michelle Quinn stepped onto the podium.
Aiden Sinclair pulled his gaze away, staring absently at the name on the screen.
Michelle Quinn accepted the trophy and certificate to thunderous applause.
