BY THE time they returned to the Spring Blossom Inn, Elder Yanshu had already learned that something had happened.
He sat inside the room with a solemn expression while one of the guards recounted everything they had seen at the spring. The children had already changed out of their wet clothes, and Lily was sitting nearby with the twins and Bai Yichen.
"Shadows?" Elder Yanshu repeated.
"Yes, Elder Yanshu. We tried to help the Young Heir, but none of us could touch them. Young Master Bai encountered the same problem."
Elder Yanshu's expression became heavier.
"And they only attacked Lily?"
"Yes."
His gaze moved toward Lily, who was sitting languidly beside the twins, her body practically melting into the seat.
She had already recovered from nearly drowning, although her face was still slightly pale. Silas sat comfortably on top of her head, seemingly unconcerned about everything happening around him.
"Did you notice anything unusual before you were pulled underwater?"
