"What... is this?" Soren stood in stunned disbelief, staring at the scene unfolding before him. Following Synapse's orders, he had traced the direction from which the tsunami had come and discovered the source—a sight so majestic it felt like the creation of a new world.
Massive meteors, trailing fiery tails, plummeted from the sky. As they descended, bolts of lightning appeared from nowhere, striking these meteors with relentless force.
The meteors, engulfed in both fire and lightning, crashed into the ocean, generating huge waves. These repeated impacts were the true culprits behind the tsunamis. Yet, Soren felt no satisfaction from completing his reconnaissance mission.
Instead, he was mesmerized by what followed. As the meteors plunged into the sea, the ocean began to churn violently. Small reefs began to rise where the meteors landed, and before his very eyes, these reefs expanded at an incredible speed.
First came clusters of reefs, which soon swelled into islands. One after another, small islands emerged, forming a chain of micro-archipelagos in the vast ocean.
Soren witnessed this extraordinary transformation: islands growing where the meteors had struck. It was the first time in his life he had seen such a wondrous phenomenon.
Not only did the islands form, but soon after, the barren surfaces of the rocks began to sprout moss. This moss grew rapidly, and soon, small plants appeared as well.
It was as if time itself had accelerated. Soren watched in awe as, in a very short time, a complete ecosystem took shape on these once desolate, rocky islands.
"Commander Soren, can you hear us? If so, please quickly document what you're seeing and report back immediately." The communication buzzing in his ear snapped him out of his astonishment.
"I'm here!" Soren responded, touching the emblem on his captain's hat.
"Commander Soren, what do you see? The surveillance arrays at Synapse show nothing but a dazzling rainbow of light in your location. We can't make out anything!"
"What I see... it's like the creation of a world," Soren, a legendary warrior, replied to Synapse command.
"What did you say?" came a confused voice from the other end. Clearly, they couldn't grasp what Soren was describing.
"I see meteors, blazing with fire, falling from the sky..." Soren succinctly relayed the astonishing scene to Synapse's command. He felt that their leader, Muria, his benefactor, needed to come and witness this event himself.
"I can see the rules of the world manifesting!" As a legendary figure, Soren could perceive more than the average person. For example, he saw how the lightning and fire striking the falling meteors were meant to destroy the foreign laws within them—laws so twisted that just glimpsing them made Soren feel uncomfortable.
As the meteors crashed into the sea, the world's own laws, made visible as lightning and fire, obliterated these foreign laws. When the meteors struck the ocean, more intricate laws appeared, transforming and assimilating the meteors into the world.
This was what Soren, as a legendary figure, could witness with his own eyes. In that moment, profound yet indescribable insights surged through his mind. He felt as though he had learned much, but couldn't put it into words.
"I suggest you notify Lord Muria immediately and have him come here. Even for someone as powerful as him, witnessing this would be greatly beneficial."
"We understand! We will notify Lord Muria at once!"
…
"It's as I suspected, the laws of the world are manifesting. Human, you've done well!" Shortly after Soren's report, a golden streak of light shot from Synapse toward his location. Though it wasn't far from Synapse, the area was sealed off from most forms of detection aside from basic physical observation.
The golden light faded, and a towering, armored giant appeared before Soren.
The giant was draped in golden armor, with bolts of lightning snaking across his body like golden serpents. His body was also wreathed in a faint, fiery aura, making him look like a miniature Titan.
Of course, Soren knew this wasn't a Titan but Terence, the Storm Giant commander in Synapse. His current power came from a gift of blood, said to be the rarest and most precious kind, bestowed upon him by Muria himself.
Since arriving at Synapse and mingling with other long-lived legendary beings, Soren had become increasingly aware of the limitations of human talent. These beings, born with divine gifts, possessed abilities far beyond the reach of ordinary humans. While humans used their intelligence to craft extraordinary weapons and equipment to close the gap, it was impossible to fully bridge the divide.
This was especially true in Synapse, where races like the Dwarves, masters of weapon-making, and the Elves, skilled in enchanting, far outstripped human artisans. Synapse was rich in resources, and even the legendary Dragons—giants renowned for their size—could afford custom-made extraordinary equipment.
In Synapse, trying to close the gap between humans and long-lived races with gear was futile. In fact, with such resources available, the gap widened because the long-lived races could bear more external enhancements than humans, who were limited by their physical constraints.
Thus, Soren sought another way to close the gap between himself and these superior beings: by obtaining their bloodlines and integrating them into his body, purifying and merging them until he became one of them.
Given Soren's talent, achieving this wouldn't be difficult. As a legendary figure who ascended without any external aid, several ancient dragons had already extended olive branches to him.
Many dragons had offered him their precious blood, promising that he could smoothly transition from a human to a high-level dragonborn, or even a full dragon. However, Soren rejected all these offers.
Accepting such a gift would have bound him to the dragon, turning him into a subordinate. While he wouldn't become a slave, he would still be a servant, and such a constraint was unacceptable to Soren's pride.
Though born in humble circumstances, Soren had climbed to his current heights using the Titan blade techniques Muria had passed to him. His pride was no less than that of the arrogant dragons.
Thus, he had only two goals: to either enter the Angelic Rebirth Pool suspended above Synapse and fully shed his human identity to become a divine warrior angel, or to receive a bloodline blessing from Muria, like Terence, and become one of Muria's chosen.
This second option was the hardest, but it was also Soren's most desired path—and it would bring the greatest benefits. If he received Muria's bloodline, he would immediately become part of Synapse's leadership, gaining immense authority. The mere thought made Soren long for such a future.
"Has Lord Muria arrived yet? This event is almost over." Soren looked up at the sky. Only a few meteors now fell, unlike the massive display of hundreds of meteors that had greeted him when he first arrived.
"He's been notified!" Terence replied, his eyes fixed on the scene before him. He too saw the laws of the world manifesting, but these laws were so profound that, as a newly ascended legendary figure, they were incomprehensible to him.
Though Terence had been watching for some time, he couldn't grasp much. It was as if he'd glimpsed something but understood nothing.
Swish! Swish! Swish! One after another, beams of light in various colors streaked toward their location from Synapse. Once Soren's discovery was confirmed, Synapse had notified all its legendary figures.
This opportunity to witness the manifestation of world laws wasn't limited by quotas, so Synapse's leaders had decided to alert all their legends.
There was no fear that these legends, serving Synapse, might cause trouble. With Muria's strength and status, he could suppress any issues. Thus, the stronger their legendary allies, the better.
As Soren looked around, he saw metallic dragons, chromatic dragons, and gem dragons, all gathered. Giants, however, were relatively few, mostly consisting of Frost Giants and some giants from other worlds. There were also more than ten legendary angels with six or more wings, a handful of legendary elves, dwarves, naga, dragonborn, and a few legendary mages and other rare legendary beings.
After arriving, only a few legends nodded or greeted Soren, while most ignored him. To them, he was just an ordinary human, skilled with a blade but not worthy of attention.
Soren wasn't upset by this; it was expected. Right now, he didn't have the standing to earn the respect of these long-lived legends. There was no reason to be angry.
"This space is really hard to tear open!" A voice sighed behind him. Soren's eyes widened in shock as, less than a hundred meters away, a pair of hands slowly ripped open a spatial rift...
