I nervously watched Mabel Sean, stuttering without managing to say a single word.
Mabel suddenly lay down on the bed, then closed her eyes, assuming a posture that left herself completely at my disposal.
I looked at Mabel lying there, my heart pounding more intensely with each passing second.
Mabel kept her eyes shut, not saying a word.
I sat there for what felt like an eternity. Taking a deep breath, I finally spoke: "Miss Sean, you should rest early. I'm going back to my room."
This seemed to surprise Mabel. She sat up from the bed, looked at me and said: "You... really don't want to do anything?"
"I do," I nodded without hesitation.
"But I am not worthy of you right now. You've helped me tremendously already. I hope that in the future, I can help and protect you," I said earnestly.
My gaze and tone carried unmistakable determination, leaving no room for doubt.
Mabel appeared very satisfied with my response. She nodded and chuckled: "Go back and sleep."
