"What kind of training was this girl put through that her body can react like this?" the unique mage said to themselves quietly out loud.
Looking at her body following after him, Kuta herself was not consciously doing anything at the moment, at least not fully. Could this be another result of a person's wand being a literal part of their body itself? Rather than just an extension of their body, it is a literal part of them as well. The unique mage had trained themselves to detect not magic so much as they did mana itself. Kuta's arms were her wands, after all; thus, they were literally the ones controlling her body at the moment.
There were many theories about what wands actually were, but many just decided to overlook and/or not venture that deeply into the topic at all. A strange thing, given that every mage pours their mana into something that would eventually become the wand at some point. Though the exact details were still unknown to everyone, the basic process was well known and documented. This resulted in how everyone was tested to be a weapon user or a mage at a young age, but because of what could happen as a result of not doing so. One had to be careful about what exactly they pour their mana into during their early years, as one could not replace their wand once it was settled. It was something that would be with them for life, as whatever it was before becoming their wand was no longer the case afterwards. Once something became a wand, that was it, that was what it would be for the rest of the mage's life, and they were stuck with it whether they liked it or not.
So that led to various cases where the mage in question could end up with a wand they can not stand or that does not fit them. Pouring mana into something is not always about what the mage likes or treasures. Whatever they keep the closest to them, it's what their mana gets poured into, which is why they get tested at a young age to prevent them from doing something they would want to become their wand when they hit the threshold for finally manifesting their wand after all.
The unique mage sighed as many looked at wands as things to collect after all. With mages that can not stand their own wands, they can sell them off for a price to collectors and even researchers who are interested in that sort of thing. After all, where there are questions, there will be people who are searching for those answers, regardless of whether they will ever find them at all during their entire lifetimes. Then some just like to collect things, even if they are not a mage or weapon user themselves, as they still collect wands and weapons of them as their interest, hobby, or whatever drives them to do so.
The unique mage looked back to see that Kuta's body had taken down the thief, who was after her arms, noticing that they were somehow wands after all. Though they mistook the vacant look in her eyes as her not being aware of her surroundings, she was thus an easy target. They found themselves at the wrong end of Kuta's body using her wand to defend them and itself. A strange sight of a pre teen girl standing over someone with their hand held out like a blade at the would be thief's throat.
"This is not the path of the Mana Blade," the unique mage spoke out.
Upon hearing this, Kuta's body reacted to this being spoken.
"Are you serious that a fairy tale basically can not be real. Hard to believe that you are even taking it seriously," the thief laughed.
"Sure, you want me to stop, as look what doing so would mean?" the mage said. "She has two hands after all, as you see one, but what is the other doing?"
The thief then noticed that they were about to die as the other hand was stabbing them through the heart.
"Really want to make me stop, as I have no problem doing so, as she is not herself at the moment. Her body is mere action to defend itself and you threaten it" the unique mage said.
Pointing a weapon at someone means you have to deal with one getting pointed back at you
Planting to steal a weapon from someone means planting to face your own death
An attempt to steal something of equal value can get stolen from you
All these things must have been drilled into Kuta to the point where her body just reacted to them as it was second nature and the only way to deal with things when they came up. The unique mage had no desire to save a thief who was willing to throw their own life away after it had been saved once already.
"Stealing a wand is something no mage looks kindly upon, and to attempt it in front of one. Do you have a death wish? " they said. "As I assure you, the girl can help you with that," they said.
The thief then ran off as Kuta's body was about to go after them, as they were considered a threat, and all threats must be dealt with
"Mana users who were rejected by the path of the blade alone can find a new path following the path of the mana blade," the unique mage continued.
This caught the attention of Kuta's body as it followed him once again.
'The mysteries of the wand never cease to amaze me,' the unique mage thought.
They continue onward with what they knew about the Path of the Mana Blade, which was what was slowly restoring the once broken mind of Kuta from being rejected not just from her family but the path she desired to follow. While her heart was prevented from breaking completely, the more that said. It might be badly and severely damaged but not broken like her mind was.
