At the hospital, Anne Sutton passed by the door to Charles Prescott's room and stepped inside.
Charles Prescott was lying in his hospital bed. He looked surprised to see her enter. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you," Anne Sutton said, looking at him with a placid expression.
For a moment, Charles Prescott's eyes lit up. Then, just as quickly, a thought seemed to strike him. "You'd be that kind?"
