Lawrence frowned at them.
Seeing his displeased expression, the father wanted to turn back. He pulled the reins to stop the horses. But his child grabbed the reins from him and urged the horses forward.
"Mister! Are you already done with what you came here to do at the Southern Duke's mansion?"
Lawrence did not respond. He glanced over his shoulder and saw the soldiers standing still like statues. Their blood was still warm and fresh around their necks. Their faces were gaunt, as though something had drained the life out of them.
The father also looked at the soldiers and screamed in shock.
"Y-You… what happened? How…?" the man stammered. He hugged his son and pulled back as far as the bench would allow.
"Father?" The boy looked confused at his father's reaction and turned to look behind him.
As the father stared at the soldiers, his pale expression slowly shifted into recognition.
"Are they… Ice Dwellers?" The man's voice fall into a whisper.
"Yes," Lawrence affirmed.
