Arkady's mind shattered deeper into the nightmare.
There was no longer any difference between memory and punishment.
The operation theater stretched endlessly around him now, row after row of metal tables disappearing into darkness beneath flickering surgical lights.
The smell of blood and burned flesh clung thickly to the air.
And on every table—Someone screamed.
Arkady stumbled backward, clutching his head as the voices tore through him.
"No… no… stop…"
But the other Arkady continued walking calmly through the theater in his bloodstained coat, flipping through notes with detached interest.
Like this was all routine.
Like suffering was nothing more than data.
The doctor version of himself stopped beside one operating table and looked down.
Arkady followed his gaze.
A man lay strapped down tightly, his entire body trembling in panic. Tears streamed from his eyes while restraints cut into his wrists hard enough to bleed.
Arkady recognized him instantly.
One of his earlier subjects.
A prisoner nobody would miss.
The doctor Arkady picked up a surgical blade.
The restrained man began screaming.
Begging.
Crying so hard his voice broke apart.
But the doctor only smiled faintly.
Then the blade descended.
Arkady screamed alongside the victim as unbearable agony exploded through his own body.
He felt every slice of flesh. Every nerve being torn open while consciousness remained intact.
He collapsed onto the floor choking on the pain.
Then another table appeared before him.
A woman this time.
Her body covered in burns.
Tar and boiling oil poured slowly across exposed flesh while researchers calmly timed how long she remained alive.
Arkady remembered the experiment.
He had wanted to know how enhanced regeneration reacted under extreme thermal trauma.
At the time—He had found it fascinating.
Now he felt the oil himself.
His skin blistered.
Peeled. Burned away.
Arkady shrieked in absolute horror as he writhed across the bloodstained floor.
Every experiment returned to him.
Every cruelty.
Every inhuman procedure carried out in the name of curiosity.
Needles through eyes.
Bones deliberately broken and reset incorrectly.
Electric shocks forced through restrained bodies until hearts exploded.
Victims left awake while organs were removed one by one so he could observe mental collapse in real time.
And through it all—The other Arkady kept smiling.
Watching. Taking notes.
The same calm expression Arkady himself had worn for years.
That realization finally broke something inside him.
Because now—He stood where the victims once had.
Helpless. Terrified. Begging.
The doctor version of Arkady slowly approached him again, scalpel in hand.
Arkady crawled backward desperately.
"PLEASE!"
The doctor crouched before him. Then smiled mockingly.
The exact same smile Arkady had once given others.
Cold. Detached.
Amused by suffering.
"You wanted to understand pain,"
The doctor whispered softly.
His own voice. His own tone.
"But you never truly studied it from this side."
The scalpel touched Arkady's chest.
And agony exploded through him once more.
Back in the real forest, Arkady's physical body convulsed violently in Ghost Rider's grasp.
Smoke poured from his eyes while electricity burst uncontrollably from beneath his skin, frying the surrounding ground black.
His screams echoed endlessly through the burning clearing.
Not excited anymore. Not curious.
Broken. Terrified.
Biffer watched silently from the side now, flames lowering slightly as even the hellhound seemed to recognize what was happening.
The stitched creature behind them had retreated several steps, dozens of its mismatched eyes twitching wildly while it emitted nervous screeches.
Ghost Rider remained motionless through all of it.
The Rider's burning skull stared directly into Arkady's soul while the Penance Stare continued forcing him to drown inside the suffering he had inflicted upon countless innocents.
And still—Ghost Rider did not look away.
In the real world—Only seconds had passed.
That was the terrifying part.
To the forest around them, Ghost Rider had merely held Arkady still for a brief moment.
No dramatic explosion. No long ritual.
Just silence.
"...."
"...."
"...."
Yet inside the Penance Stare—Arkady had already drowned in lifetimes of suffering.
Every scream. Every incision. Every experiment. Every victim.
His soul had been dragged through all of it without mercy until the weight of his sins crushed whatever remained of his mind.
Ghost Rider finally released him.
Arkady's body dropped into the mud like a broken puppet.
No lightning exploded from him now. No manic laughter.
Only weak twitching.
Smoke curled from his ruined eye sockets.
Burned hollow.
The same empty blackened stare left behind by the Penance Stare's judgment.
His fingers clawed weakly at the earth while broken whispers escaped his throat.
"No more…"
The once brilliant and terrifying scientist no longer looked dangerous.
Just destroyed.
Ghost Rider looked down at him briefly.
The flames around the Rider's skull burned steadily now, calmer than before.
Because judgment had already been delivered.
Then—The screech returned.
The stitched creature lunged across the clearing with dozens of clawing arms dragging its grotesque body over the ruined ground at frightening speed.
All its mouths opened together.
The sonic attack erupted instantly.
The air warped violently as invisible waves tore through the forest toward Ghost Rider, flattening burning trees and ripping apart earth in their path.
But Ghost Rider didn't move.
Didn't dodge.
Didn't even turn fully toward the attack.
Hellfire suddenly exploded outward around him in a circular barrier.
The sonic wave collided against the burning wall.
And died.
Not resisted. Neutralized.
The sound itself seemed to melt inside the infernal flames before being forced downward into the earth.
The ground around Ghost Rider shattered apart under redirected pressure while molten cracks spread outward beneath his feet.
The creature screeched louder in confusion.
It attacked again.
Another devastating sonic blast erupted from its countless mouths.
Again the hellfire barrier consumed it completely.
The infernal flames swallowed the vibrations like a predator devouring prey.
Ghost Rider slowly turned toward the abomination now.
The chains around his arms rattled heavily as the Rider faced the creature fully for the first time.
Dozens of mismatched eyes stared back at him nervously.
The thing could sense it now.
This was not prey. Not even a monster.
This was something older.
Something made for punishment.
The creature hesitated. Just slightly.
"...."
Ghost Rider took one step forward.
The hellfire around him intensified immediately, causing the surrounding rain to evaporate before touching the ground.
The stitched creature shrieked and unleashed multiple sonic blasts wildly in panic.
The attacks struck the flaming barrier over and over.
Each one collapsed uselessly against the infernal flames.
Ghost Rider kept walking. Slow. Unstoppable.
The creature began retreating instinctively, dozens of hands dragging itself backward through the mud while its many mouths continued screaming.
Then Ghost Rider finally spoke again.
The voice rolled across the burning forest like the opening of hell itself.
"YOU ARE MADE OF MANY."
Another step.
"AND EVERY ONE OF THEM…"
The flames around the Rider darkened toward crimson.
"…IS SCREAMING."
The creature suddenly froze.
"...."
All its mismatched eyes widened together.
Because beneath the Rider's words—It heard them too.
The souls trapped inside its stitched body.
Crying. Begging.
Suffering endlessly beneath layers of twisted flesh.
Ghost Rider slowly raised one burning hand toward it.
And the entire forest began burning brighter.
