Dennis, the Hegemon of Space, seemed a little perplexed by Mascy's words, as if he still hadn't come to grips with how dire the situation was. He gave her a puzzled look and said, "Mascy, didn't you say that nothing that happens will escape your detection?"
The crystal ball glowed dark green in her hands, causing her to furrow her brow in horror. "Enough nonsense, Dennis! Act now! I can feel Wasir waiting for someone, and that someone is definitely not our friend!"
"Who on earth can help him?" Dennis still didn't seem to be in a hurry, unlike the panicked Mascy. "The five Sovereigns of the Fringe don't really interfere in each other's affairs. Apart from an Overgod, no one should be able to break my spatial lock. What are you worried about?"
"Wasir thinks that once that person arrives, the two of us might not make it out of Glacial Peak alive. That's what he really thinks! I'm not wrong, there's a catch! Dennis, we've worked together for many years, yet you trust me so little?" Mascy glared at him angrily.
Wasir was taken aback. He hadn't thought that a Highgod like Mascy would be able to read his thoughts so clearly. What he couldn't understand was why she couldn't find out the identity of this mysterious fellow?
Seeing Mascy really angry, the seriousness of the situation finally sank in for Dennis. He knew how accurate her predictions were, and there was no way she was going to mess with him at such a crucial moment. He had decided to act immediately.
But before he could, Wasir had unleashed his subzero Domain of Divinity, instantly causing a white mist to rise from the cave behind him. The mist of cold enveloped him; he had cultivated in the Frost Cavern for years and had long since become one with the frost energy within. He allowed it to circle around him before letting the serpentine mist slither towards Dennis and Mascy.
Wherever the mist touched, space itself crackled incessantly. The region Dennis had enclosed shattered like a mirror.
Wasir subordinates who had been frozen suddenly felt that they could move again. They immediately broke free of their bonds and rushed into the Frost Cavern without asking their master. They were afraid of being trapped again by the spatial energy.
Dennis' expression changed as he huffed, "Wasir, did you think you'd survive this? I alone am enough to defeat you, let alone now that I have Mascy with me. You may not know this, but those who cultivate in the Edict of Fate can make you tremble, even if they're only Highgods!"
Dennis shouted as powerful spatial waves reverberated from his body, affecting the structure of space-time around him and transforming it into a sharp blade that he sent slashing in Wasir's direction.
At that moment, all the energy in Wasir's body was activated to its full potential; the mist that came back at him didn't enter his body, but froze it. Now he was one with the frost in the cave, turning into a block of unmelting ice as the spatial blade fell!
A sharp, crunching sound came from Wasir's body, but it didn't immediately separate from the spatial blade. Instead, the blade gradually cut in, inch by inch.
Wasir's expression was now completely pale. Some blood seeped from the corner of his mouth and turned into a crimson icicle.
"It's a pity I can only stop his body from moving. I can't do anything about his soul. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to form that protective ice around himself and he'd be dead by now," Mascy's fingers twitched, sending the green tendrils deep into the little figure in the crystal ball.
"You will be able to enter the realm of the Overgod once you find the Quintessence Shard. Then you'll be able to bind souls as well as bodies. By then, the two of us will rule the entire Godhunter Alliance! Dennis comforted her with a smile.
As far as they were concerned, it was over for Wasir. It was only a matter of time before the spatial blade cut him in half. On top of that, Mascy's disembodied tendrils damaged his body as they burrowed deep into it.
The combination was truly terrifying. Mascy could see Wasir's every move, while Dennis was able to unleash extremely powerful attacks. The longer the fight went on, the less chance Wasir had of surviving until he was finally driven to a wall of despair.
Dennis and Mascy chuckled and chatted, not paying too much attention to Glacial Peak. They knew that the fortifications and barriers around the peak wouldn't be used to their full potential once Wasir was dead. The remaining Highgods would stand no chance against the two of them.
"Hurry, Wasir is still clinging to the hope that someone will come. We'll kill him first and trap the person he's waiting for!" Mascy said as she put more power into forming more tendrils to bind Wasir. The battle soon came to an end.
After Angelo had managed to enter the cave with great difficulty, he saw Wasir helpless against the spatial blade that was cutting into him. "Lord!" he cried in despair.
All the subordinates who had managed to enter the cave had only one thought in their minds: to save their master. Though Wasir didn't hold back when it came to punishing them, his subordinates remained loyal to him even in his time of crisis. They charged out of the cave, fearless and suicidal, towards Dennis and Mascy.
"You came to die?" Dennis laughed, and the spatial waves spread from his body once more. Suddenly, several fist-sized holes of light appeared on the bodies of Wasir's subordinates. The suction was so strong that the bodies of the subordinates seemed to liquefy as they were pulled into the centre of the hole. Not a trace of their bodies remained.
Wasir's eyes burned with rage. Even though he was trapped, he was still perfectly aware of his surroundings. Only now did he realise that his subordinates were truly loyal to him, no matter how often he scolded them. He watched as they gave their lives for him in vain.
It was a pity that Mascy prevented him from moving completely. He also had to constantly use divine energy in his body to defend himself against Dennis' spatial blade. There was nothing he could do to help them.
Why aren't you coming? Why aren't you here yet? Have you been using me all this time? Why? Why?!
He stared into the distance as hatred festered in his mind. He felt betrayed. He was driven so close to despair that he wanted to abandon his body and take the enemy with him in his soul form.
Suddenly, as if someone had heard Wasir's desperate inner plea, a piercing sound could be heard from afar. It was coming from countless horrible life forms with rows and rows of razor-sharp teeth. The creatures were so close together that they looked like a thundercloud approaching at full speed.
A terrifying and insidious energy emanated from their bodies. When they collided with Dennis' spatial barrier, it crumbled almost instantly.
With the spatial barrier shattered, the creatures swarmed everywhere like bats as they rushed towards Dennis and Mascy's Godhunter subordinates. Glacial Peak was suddenly plunged into darkness as the creatures landed on every inch of the peak.
Wasir's eyes flashed with joy and delight. The moment he saw those creatures, he knew he hadn't been wrong. His chance for revenge had finally arrived!
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! The Seventeen Flying Swords sliced through the horizon and appeared above Glacial Peak. Before Mascy and Dennis could react, they were surrounded by a net woven from the light trails of the flying swords. Soon the net began to close in on them!
