Z-City.
According to Hero Association records, it was one of the most closely monitored cities in the country. The reason was simple: among all cities nationwide, Z-City ranked near the top in terms of disaster frequency.
Mysterious Beings were frequently sighted there, and the city had suffered large-scale damage more than once, leaving residents constantly on edge.
As a result, in one particular district of Z-City, the local population had gradually moved away and settled closer to the city center.
Utilities still functioned, and living conditions weren't a problem, but almost nobody dared to stay there anymore. In other words, the area was completely deserted. People even referred to it as the 'Ghost City'.
At this moment, Fang Li and Sylvia had arrived there. Looking at the empty streets, Sylvia spoke with some surprise.
"There's really no sign of anyone at all."
And she wasn't wrong. Buildings stood everywhere, and the streets were still intact rather than run-down, yet there wasn't the slightest trace of daily life. Not a single human presence could be felt. The atmosphere wasn't exactly frightening, but it carried a lonely, abandoned feeling.
"This area reportedly has frequent Mysterious Being sightings and disasters," Fang Li explained as they walked. "So even if we don't find the person we're looking for, the trip won't be a waste."
The person Fang Li wanted to meet lived somewhere within this so-called Ghost City. Unfortunately, that was all he knew. As for the exact address?
There was no way he remembered something that specific from the original story. So his plan was simply to wander around for a while. Even if he didn't run into his target, encountering a few roaming Mysterious Beings would still be worthwhile.
"By the way," Fang Li glanced at Sylvia. "You're not disguising yourself today?"
Normally, whenever she went out, she disguised herself. At the moment, she was wearing her usual disguise outfit, a simple blouse and jeans, with a wide-brimmed hat, but she hadn't used her headphones to change her hair color. Anyone who saw her would recognize her instantly.
"There's nobody here anyway," Sylvia smiled casually. "Besides, aren't you going around undisguised too?"
Thanks to Sylvia, Fang Li had become famous as well. If he walked through a busy street, people would definitely recognize him. But as Sylvia said, there wasn't a soul around, so it didn't really matter.
Besides, even if there were people around, Fang Li had no intention of disguising himself. This wasn't Academy City. Using power beyond normal human limits wouldn't cause any major issues here. And if a crowd gathered? With Fang Li's speed, disappearing was effortless. There was no need to hide.
"So we're just wandering around?" Sylvia blinked. "It kind of feels like a date."
"Not really," Fang Li laughed helplessly. "If it were a date, we'd be in the city center. Who goes on a date in an abandoned neighborhood like this?"
"What's wrong with that?" Sylvia lightly hopped in front of him. With her hands behind her back, she leaned forward and stared directly into his eyes. A faint smile appeared on her lips. "Isn't this exactly the kind of deserted place boys always try to bring girls to?"
Fang Li raised an eyebrow, then he smiled. "Are you hinting at something?"
As he spoke, he slowly stepped closer. Seeing him approach, Sylvia immediately realized she might have said something she shouldn't have. Her expression became noticeably unnatural, and she unconsciously took a step back. Then another. And another.
Looking at Fang Li with disbelief, she muttered, "Y-You're not actually thinking about..."
The smile on Fang Li's face suddenly gained a distinctly dangerous edge. Sylvia's heartbeat instantly sped up. No way. He couldn't actually be planning to...
The moment that thought crossed her mind, she hurriedly spoke. "T-This is a public street! And it's still daytime!"
Clearly, she was panicking. Meanwhile, Fang Li seemed genuinely encouraged by her reaction. Keeping his eyes fixed on her, he continued advancing step by step.
"What does that matter?" He smiled. "There's nobody around, right?"
In other words... he really was thinking about doing something inappropriate. And Sylvia knew perfectly well that he wasn't joking.
Once Fang Li got into a certain mood, he stopped caring about anything else. He always did whatever he wanted, without hesitation or concern for consequences. At this moment, Sylvia was genuinely in danger.
Realizing this, she immediately decided to run. Unfortunately, in a contest of speed, how could she possibly compete with Fang Li as he was now?
Just as Fang Li caught her and pinned her against a wall while she let out a startled cry, something unexpected happened.
BOOM…!
A thunderous explosion suddenly erupted in the distance. A powerful gale shot skyward like a tornado, carrying countless chunks of stone with it. Dust and debris swirled into a massive sandstorm that rapidly spread outward.
The commotion was like a bucket of cold water dumped directly over Fang Li's head. For the first time, his expression darkened.
"T-There's a disaster happening!" Sylvia looked as though she had just been rescued from certain doom. While hurriedly pulling down the clothes Fang Li had roughly tugged out of place, her face red with embarrassment, she quickly said, "W-We should hurry over there! It might be a Dragon-Level Mysterious Being!"
"That's worth five hundred Killing Points!"
The moment she finished speaking, she seized the opportunity, escaped Fang Li's grasp, and hurried toward the disturbance.
Watching her flee, Fang Li's expression remained gloomy. He stared at the sandstorm rising into the sky, then he took a deep breath.
"Whoever you are..."
"...you're finished."
Clearly, regardless of whether they were friend or foe, the people responsible for interrupting that moment had earned Fang Li's hatred.
---
At the same time, at the center of the sandstorm... The scene was one of complete devastation.
"Haa... haa..." A tall, elegant beauty stood at the eye of the storm, breathing heavily as though she might collapse at any moment. All around her, men in black suits lay scattered across the ground. Every one of them was covered in injuries.
And in front of the storm stood a beast.
"ROOOOAR…!"
A deafening roar erupted from its throat. The shockwave blasted apart the surrounding winds and swept across the battlefield.
