Sinnoh Region, Crown Academy.
From afar, several collapsed buildings could be seen, appearing dilapidated as if they had experienced the flames of war.
As one of the ancient academies, Crown Academy possessed an extraordinary foundation, but recently it had encountered the invasion of an extremely evil wild Pokémon.
After this Pokémon broke in… Crown Academy could be said to have been robbed by a thief. There was not a single moment of peace from start to finish.
"Togepi! Togepi…"
Somewhere within the academy, inside a building resembling a prison, a gloomy-looking Togepi was pounding on the wall. From time to time it fired off a Flamethrower, and at other times unleashed a Confusion blast, but no matter how hard it tried, it was unable to escape the room.
"Ah…" The on-duty staff member guarding the building yawned, his gaze involuntarily drifting inside.
It was hard to imagine that such a little fellow had thrown the entire academy into chaos, turning it upside down and filling it with turmoil.
Thinking of the ransacked cafeteria, warehouses, and various basic facilities, the staff member shook his head vigorously. He had once believed that there were no purely evil Pokémon, but now, he had changed his mind.
This Togepi could be said to be the most evil Pokémon he had ever seen.
"Teacher Julian, you're here." The teacher responsible for guarding Togepi waved when he saw Teacher Julian arrive with Terrance.
After wreaking havoc throughout the academy, Togepi had already been subdued, but everyone soon discovered that not a single person had the ability to tame it.
Even when some veteran Trainers from the academy came forward, the Togepi barely acknowledged them. Even using Poké Balls proved completely ineffective.
It was as if the evil in Togepi's heart could not be corrected at all. It was constantly plotting mischief and carrying out pranks. With even a moment's inattention, it could cause major losses within the academy.
Worse still, its abilities were extremely difficult to guard against. This situation only eased after the academy's teachers and students gradually figured out how its powers worked.
After deliberation, the academy decided to seal the Togepi away to prevent it from harming others outside. However, in the end, Teacher Julian proposed a suggestion: to try having a Top Trainer who had graduated from the academy attempt to tame it. After all, this Togepi's talent was astonishing; sealing it away would be far too much of a waste.
Following behind Teacher Julian, Terrance looked into the transparent room and asked curiously, "So this is the Togepi?"
"That's the one." After taking over from the on-duty teacher, Teacher Julian explained to Terrance, "Don't be fooled by its appearance."
Indeed, when Terrance appeared, the Togepi suddenly withdrew its sinister, malevolent expression and immediately put on a pitiful, tearful look.
That expression almost made even Terrance believe that it was an innocent Pokémon being mistreated by the academy…
"Its acting skills are excellent. Quite a few students have been fooled by that look." Teacher Julian left Togepi with no shred of privacy, continuing to expose it: "Also, its Attract move is rather strange. If the target is of the opposite sex, it can even reach the level of manipulating other Pokémon's will and actions. Because of this ability, many Pokémon in the academy were bewitched by it and helped it cause trouble."
"Manipulating will and actions?" Terrance was startled. To use Attract to such an extent was truly remarkable.
For a wild Pokémon, it was even more praiseworthy.
"Togepi! Togepi…" Seeing that Terrance ignored its pitiful act and instead listened to others reveal its secrets, the Togepi instantly reverted to its evil expression. Its face darkened as it pointed at Teacher Julian and Terrance, as if declaring war.
"Quite a personality indeed…" Terrance showed an interested expression. This Togepi reminded him of Misdreavus from the past, though Misdreavus had been forced to rely on pranks to absorb food due to its unique species traits. A Togepi this downright wicked, however, was truly rare.
"Right?" Seeing the look of surprise on Terrance's face, Teacher Julian smiled. "I remember you seem to be very interested in Fairy-type Pokémon, so I left you a message. Generally speaking, Pokémon like this aren't suitable to be captured by Trainers, but if it can be successfully tamed, it will become a very reliable partner."
This kind of personality was indeed a double-edged sword.
From Teacher Julian, Terrance learned about Togepi's strength. Its Attract was powerful enough to control more than a dozen opposite-sex Pokémon at the same time, making them obey its commands. Its use of Substitute move was extremely flexible, giving many Trainers who tried to capture it a terrible headache. As for its offensive move Flamethrower, its power was even more terrifying; its temperature extremely high and its range extremely wide. Beyond that, Togepi's psychic power was also exceptionally good; manipulating dozens of objects simultaneously with Telekinesis was effortless for it.
Even for Pokémon carefully trained by a Trainer, reaching this level was already very rare. For a wild Pokémon with no systematic training to achieve such a standard, there was only one possibility; it possessed extraordinary talent.
"I'll give it a try," Terrance said.
However, looking at the evil Togepi's punchable expression, Terrance suddenly felt a bit of a headache. Even if he did manage to capture it, correcting that personality would probably be extremely difficult.
"Wouldn't defeating it work?"
"Togepi! Togepi…" Togepi curled its lips faintly.
"If beating it were enough to make it obedient, this special Togepi would have been captured long ago by other teachers or students. Be careful, if it isn't restrained, it's a bomb that could go off at any time. Very dangerous." Teacher Julian shook his head.
"Oh, is that so?" Casually, Terrance smiled. In his clenched fist, a Fairy Mark surfaced as he tried to communicate with Togepi.
After all, Terrance, who possessed a Fairy Mark, had an unimaginable affinity with Fairy-type Pokémon.
This was Terrance's trump card. The moment he revealed the Fairy Mark, Togepi suddenly froze.
"Tog~epi?"
As if it had sensed the fluctuations of the Fairy Mark, Togepi's body stiffened. It instantly returned to a gentle expression and moved toward Terrance, only to be stopped by the transparent material that blocked energy.
"Be good, little one…" Terrance smiled kindly. After sensing the calmness in its heart, he turned to Teacher Julian and smiled. "It's settled."
"Settled?" Teacher Julian looked at Terrance and Togepi with doubt, his expression one of complete disbelief.
"Don't worry. I have a deep understanding of Fairy-type Pokémon. Since no one in the academy can capture it, I'll take care of capturing this Togepi myself," Terrance said.
"Togepi! Togepi…" Togepi nodded vigorously, an expectant look on its face.
"I feel like something's not quite right." Teacher Julian frowned. "Are you sure you want to try?"
"Uh… is there something wrong?" Terrance was taken aback.
"No. If you're serious, then here's the key." Teacher Julian pondered for a moment, then simply tossed the key to Terrance.
