"The strongest?"
Terrance looked up at the sky, then spoke to Mewtwo:
"In that case, why don't you learn about Mega Evolution, the power I showed you earlier. It's a way Pokémon use life energy, a technique to awaken their hidden potential. If it were you, I believe you'd master it even better than anyone else."
"Once you've mastered Mega Evolution, you should be considered one of the top beings in this world."
"Top being? You mean I'm not one already?"
"Of course." Terrance smiled. "There are still many Trainers in this world stronger than I am. And besides Trainers, there are those Legendary Pokémon that have existed since ancient times."
"You've fought Mew, so you should understand their power better than I do—Pokémon that have lived for tens of thousands of years. Everything requires a process of learning and growth. You're indeed quite powerful, but it's only that your starting point is higher than most. To become the strongest isn't something you can achieve just by saying it."
After hearing Terrance's words, Mewtwo stretched out its hand, gazing at its own power, and asked, "Besides Mew, which other Pokémon are considered powerful?"
"It's said that amidst chaos and waves, an egg appeared. From that egg hatched Arceus, who created the universe. Arceus then created Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, giving them dominion over time, space, and antimatter. These records come from the Sinnoh region's creation myths. Being able to control time and space, I imagine they wouldn't be weak."
Mewtwo was momentarily stunned, then nodded. Even it could not control time and space.
Terrance continued, "And according to Hoenn's creation myths, Kyogre and Groudon expanded the seas and the land. It could be said that the existence of these super-ancient Pokémon dates back even farther than Mew's."
By telling Mewtwo these myths and ancient legends, Terrance was also giving it a reminder.
In Terrance's eyes, those Pokémon's current power far surpassed Mewtwo's. If Mewtwo continued to maintain its previous arrogance, it would only encounter setbacks again and again.
Because his own Kirlia was also a clone, Terrance felt a sense of recognition and anticipation toward Mewtwo.
He wanted to see whether this strongest artificial Pokémon with extraordinary potential could one day truly reach the peak of the world.
"I understand."
Mewtwo nodded, and used Confusion to lift the four Cloned Pokémon, then its body slowly rose into the air. It seemed it had decided to leave New Island.
But before leaving, Mewtwo hesitated for a moment, then turned again to Terrance:
"I didn't fulfill your request. Consider that I owe you a favor. You can use this to find me."
Then, Mewtwo condensed a blue psychic mark and imprinted it on Kirlia's forehead. After giving Kirlia a deep look, it turned without another word and departed from New Island with the Cloned Pokémon.
Terrance didn't have time to say thank you. He could only watch Mewtwo's back as it left with the Cloned Pokémon and softly wish, "Safe travels."
Terrance had no idea what this Genetic Pokémon, created by Team Rocket using Mew's genes and brimming with potential, would ultimately become, but for now, this was a pretty good ending…
Uh…
Where's Mew?
Remembering something, Terrance suddenly looked around in confusion, scratching his head. Only after Kirlia reminded him did he realize that the pink Mew had also flown off in the same direction as Mewtwo…toward the unknown.
…
…
Leafport City, Pokémon Center.
Under Mewtwo's wide-range Hypnosis, everyone involved in the New Island incident lost a part of their memory.
Ash and his friends sat in the Pokémon Center, looking blank and confused about why they were there.
Meanwhile, Nurse Joy, who had previously gone missing, had returned to the Pokémon Center and was now busy treating the Pokémon of the Trainers who had tried to cross the sea.
"Nurse Joy, are you saying you really don't remember anything about your disappearance?"
A police officer from another region, assigned to investigate Joy's missing case, asked in disbelief. The disappearance of Leafport City's Nurse Joy had been a huge incident that shocked nearly half of Kanto. Yet only a few days later, Nurse Joy suddenly returned on her own, and claimed she had forgotten everything? That was far too casual and left the officer completely frustrated and unable to accept it.
"Officer, I truly don't remember anything. Please don't interrupt me while I'm treating these Pokémon."
Nurse Joy frowned slightly, her tone showing clear displeasure.
The mass amnesia incident that occurred around Leafport City was ultimately classified as top secret by the Indigo League. In addition, the Leafport City Police gained a bigger harvest by arresting thirty-six Team Rocket members, including one of their admins, Archer.
The achievement left Officer Jenny of Leafport City stunned, feeling as if she were dreaming. Thirty-six Team Rocket members, all completely powerless to resist, had fallen from the sky. From the day she was born until now, Officer Jenny could swear she had never encountered something so bizarre.
"I feel like… I've forgotten something."
As night began to fall, Ash, Misty, and Brock stood at the pier, gazing out over the sea and sighing together.
Having inexplicably appeared in Leafport City, they could only chalk it up to Ash traveling around for his special training.
"Ah, whatever, let's go back. We've got to make the most of the time we have left and train hard! We're going to win the Indigo League!"
Ash clenched his fists, his expression full of confidence. But just then, Misty nudged him and said, "Ash, look over there… isn't that Mr. Terrance?"
Following the direction Misty pointed, Ash and Brock saw Terrance sitting alone on a wooden plank by the pier, gazing out at the sea, lost in thought.
"It really is him! But shouldn't Brother Terrance be at Professor Oak's place right now?" Ash scratched his head in confusion.
"Let's go talk to him," Brock suggested.
Once they confirmed it was indeed Terrance, the trio immediately walked over. From a distance, Ash greeted in a loud voice.
"It's you, Ash…"
Terrance looked up, smiled faintly, and answered their questions, explaining that he was just passing through the area on some business.
"I see. Brother Terrance, we're about to head back to Pallet Town, want to come with us?" Ash asked.
Terrance thought for a moment, then said, "Sure. I need to stop by Professor Oak's lab to say goodbye anyway."
"Goodbye? Brother Terrance, are you leaving?"
"Yes. There are still many things I need to do. Oh, and good luck at the Indigo Plateau Conference. If I have the chance, I'll come watch your match. If you manage to reach the top eight of the Indigo Plateau Conference, I'll give you a gift."
Looking at Ash, the energetic, passionate, and determined Trainer, Terrance smiled. Reaching the quarterfinals of the regional league in his rookie year would undoubtedly make him a rising star in the world of Trainers. Given Ash's current strength, it might be quite difficult, but who could ever predict luck?
Encouraged by Terrance's promise, Ash was overjoyed and immediately declared that he would train even harder.
