Chapter 412 - Story 26 Super Gene Ascension Chapter 4

After dealing with the Obsidian Scale Aligator's flesh, cooking it up a good bit, and eating my fill of getting like six points out of it. I packed up the rest of the flesh and such as I knew its hard bones and scales could be made into arrows and such.

And from there I returned to the Black Steel Shelter without too much issues besides just the general load of meat and materials hanging over my shoulders.

But it was just as I was walking into the Shelter that I shivered as I felt the Geno-Gem inside of myself shiver and then it spat out the antler bolt I had fed to it. And the bolt Beast Soul had clearly thickened up a bit and had upgraded from an Ordinary Beast Soul to a Primitive.

'So like six or something hours to turn an Ordinary Beast to Primitive? That's not bad at all, I could make three of them in a single day actually.' I thought as I pushed my Desert Scorpion Beast Soul into the Geno Gem next so it could be upgraded.

As I was done adventuring today honestly. I still needed to make contact with Qian Xuan's Silver Warriors group. Which was official name of the group Yang Manli invited me to.

Beyond that I would be better served just waiting to see if I could evolve the Soldier Ant armor into a Mutated Beast soul overnight.

So I quickly sold off the remaining Mutated beast flesh from the alligator I killed for a very good amount of credits along with the remains of the fish I also captured for a a lot less money.

As for the scraps I had given them, they were just going to mix it all up for the Ordinary and Primitive meat to make bars of Spams basically out of the same species of monster.

With the points I got from trading in the mutated beast meat, I myself bought some bars of the Spam meat of Ordinary and Primitive tiers of creatures I alreadly killed and as I went to my assigned room in the shelter I just forced down the salty boiled bricks of meat down my gullet.

It certainly tasted like absolute shit, but eating them gave me a solid fifteen points in my Ordinary points and another twelve in my Primitive points leaving my stats and inventory looking like this.

[Beast Souls

Obsidian Scale Macuahuitl -Mutated Tier

Horn Bolt +Primitive Tier

Desert Scorpion Spear -Ordinary Tier

Soldier Ant Armor -Ordinary Tier

Sabertooth Dagger -Ordinary Tier

Geno Points

Ordinary,50

Primitive,43

Mutated,23

Sacred Blood,0]

Though... It was funny. I knew Super Tier genes were a thing, but they didn't show up in my status sheet which is why on one knew about them as people just assumed Super creatures should they survive running into them. Where just excessively strong Sacred Blood creatures.

"Alright... I got some money, time to use the Silver Warrior's martial arts gym." I muttered as I went to the address I got forwarded for the gym and meeting spot for the Silver Warriors to meet outside of the Sanctuary in the real world.

And after getting through the traffic of the massive city I found that the massive gym which looked like it was four stories tall was called 'Silvers better than Gold Gym' and after going in, the nice... Hot civilian ladies scanned me into the systems and I was escorted to what I wanted to use.

"The evasion and obstacles courses can only be used for an hour without coming back to check in Jake. The gym only has fifteen of such rooms and they are in hot demand with Evolvers." The girl explained and I nodded in understanding.

"Now you are still a first Sanctuary Evolver correct?" She asked and seeing me nod she continued patiently knowing I was part of her boss's forces in the Sanctuary. "Ok good I just need to make sure as our systems can only support up to top-grade Second Sanctuary Evolvers."

She then pushed some buttons on the console next to the door and I saw as through the door window built into it, were several platforms falling into seams in the floor I spoke.

"I just want to practice in evasion training for now. No need for obstacles or agility training." I spoke.

After the girl finished working on the room I walked in and I saw in the somewhat raised-up room's floor a large holographic circle where I was supposed to stand where I would need to avoid the high-speed dodge balls that would be shot at randomly from the baseball like shooting turrets.

"Whelp... Gotta get my training started eventually." I muttered as I tied a band around my eyes to blind myself and I began the best way to learn Observation Haki.

Observation Haki being as it said on the tin, a method of seeing things outside of your sight with your other senses. And in time when you got good at it, you could use your Haki in that style to do wonky shit like seeing ahead in the future by a few seconds. Through buildings, and among other things.

And now it was time for the hardest part of Observation Haki training. Learning how to access it to begin with.

Loud thumps rang out as I was pelted by fist-sized balls that hit me with a good deal of force that hurt a damned good bit. But I just dealt with the pain as I followed the Haki knowledge that was downloaded into my brain in learning how to train it.

'I am not so emotional that I will be able to use Conquerer's Haki without training my other Haki unless I see something that makes me hyper-emotional.' I mused as I tried to ignore the impacts on my body so I could enter 'The Zone'

As I was well aware I couldn't spend weeks if not months training in only Observation Haki. I needed to accelerate the process and the best way to do that was to shut off my body's deliberate reactions and to only react to what my senses could pick up.

It was a way to accelerate the learning of Haki but it was paid in pain as the body would be beaten up as the user tried to train its body to react instinctively.

And I kept my mind off the pain by trying to get the knack of forcing my Haki. My 'Willpower' was to collect onto my fists so I could begin the process of mastering Armament Haki which was the basis of my cheat in getting One Piece stuff along with my insertion.

-

After a few hours of training, and although having some good progress. I knew it was going to be a work of a couple of weeks before I could get some kind of spidey senses from my Observation Haki.

And after getting home, getting another long shower to wash off the sweat and pain of the training. I went straight to bed with a groan escaping me.

Until like thirty minutes later my phone loudly buzzed and for a long moment I was confused as shit why I was getting a message until I looked at my phone.

[Yang Manli- Jake Bariss, I have a team of newbies that also joined the Silver Warriors in the last few days. They are from some families of decent power but they aren't the heirs of said families, they do not have resources or support to just buy all the Primitive and Ordinary Gene meat they need]

[Yang Manli- You have a good head on your shoulders, I want you to take the three and help them hunt some Primitive and Ordinary creatures to get their feet wet. This will also put you in a good light with the group.]

I had to think about this for a good minute. As this wasn't just an opportunity it was also putting a noose around my neck in case those newbies were fucking idiots or just unlucky and got themselves killed.

So after a moment, I messaged back. [I am doing well for now but I haven't maxed out my Geno points for any of the types. What if they don't listen to me frankly? I can't be responsible if I can't control or guide some arrogant young master who gets themselves killed after all.]

Yang Manli didn't message me back for a solid five minutes and when she did my lips fucking twitched. [Yang Manli- A young master won't be your issue. It will be a 'young mistress' in fact with a neice and a close friend. They are friends of one of Qin Xuan's younger cousins so will you do it or not as their first time in the Sanctuary is tomorrow?]

After a moment of considering it, I brushed a hand across my face and messaged back. [Alright I will do it. What time will I be meeting them? Will I be compensated for this extra work in points within the group? And lastly are they capable of fighting themselves, or am I expected to be teaching them everything 'Not a sarcastic question, I am honestly asking']

Yang Manli just messaged me back quickly seemingly already waiting for my response. [Yes, you will be compensated for your time to say nothing the girls may pay you for your time. As for meeting time, around noon within the Shelter, and lastly as for their capabilities... Do they know how to fight yes, skilled in fighting, or knowledgable in survival? LOL have fun Jake.]

Even as I read the damming 'LOL' of doom I sighed before I sent a thumbs-up emoji and Yang Manli sent another message detailing their names in Runeas, Rias, and Mio. With a specific mention that all three had vibrant red hair so I could identify them.

With that, I set an alarm on my phone to wake me up in a few hours so I could switch the Geno Gem from the spear to my Soldier Ant Armor Beast Soul. And then I went to sleep knowing I was going to be cursed to have an interesting day tomorrow.

I was a bit groggy after waking up as I was woken up by the alarm to switch the Geno Gem to the armor and then each time the Beast Soul evolved it woke me up which was rather annoying.

But with my Soldier Ant Armor being Primitive tier and still cooking, even as I wore it to feel it affected my movements I would be rather happy when it could evolve to Mutated tier god knows when.

As it took six hours it seemed to evolve an Ordinary Beast Soul to Primitive, depending on how it took to get from Primitive to Mutated would determine if I could just sell off some Beast Souls I enhanced or if I just needed to focus on making myself as strong as possible.

After getting myself all nice and cleaned up I left my apartment and I made my way through the huge city towards the teleporters leading to the Sanctuary and I idly wondered what military college I should try to join.

As I really didn't want to serve the compulsive service that could see my ass thrown onto the front lines against the alien races of this universe.

Either way, I still had a couple of months before I needed to truly worry about that, and by then I was planning on being a gigachad who broke the fucking Sanctuary over my knee after getting my grubby hands on that sweet sweet Super Geno points.

After entering the Sanctuary through the teleporter after speaking with that guard a bit who congratulated me on surviving my first day, I first went around shopping for Beast Souls and after not seeing anything too interesting besides a bow Beast Soul I had no idea how to use however.

And by the time my fruitless shopping trip was done, it was getting close to the meeting time I was supposed to meet the girls at.

After waiting for a few minutes and just people watching. I even waved at Yang Manli who was doing her own thing after coming into the Sanctuary with the blond beauty that was our leader in Qin Xuan though they were both kinda seemingly in a rush.

But eventually I saw the three ladies I was supposed to be showing the ropes of surviving in the Sanctuary... And as I looked upon them, I knew I was fucking doomed.

All three of them had bright crimson hair with somewhat different tints but they were all three stacked as hell and wearing tight-fitting combat outfits that clung to their ample voluptuous frames.

'Oh dear god, I can see the other guys staring at them as well. Do I need to worry about some young master following us into the wilderness?' I wondered with honest worry.

As all three were certainly a match for Yang Manli and Qin Xuan's beauty even if they looked like they were in their late teens almost twenty compared to Yang Manli and Qin Xuan who were in their twenties.

"Heya!" The leading redhead spoke and as her mischievous purple eyes took in my form she spoke seriously. "So... The most important question of your life Jake Barriss, what are your thoughts on camels?"

I gave the girl a long look of confusion before I visibly considered the question... And as the other two girls shared looks of consternation at their 'leader' I spoke firmly. "Besides in matters of pure speed, Camels are superior to horses in almost every other metric!"

And the moment I said that. I saw who I assumed to be Runeas's eyes widen before she grinned and clapped her hands together as she all but shouted. "Good! You are indeed a man of culture and refinement! I Runeas Gremory accept you as my guide!"

The most stacked of the redheads who had blue eyes and a rather similar facial structure as Runeas sighed and said. "Thank you for entertaining my aunt despite her mental issues. But anyway, my name is Rias Gremory and this is my distant cousin Mio Naruse."

The other red head had her crimson hair up in twin tails while also having reddish purple eyes that clashed with Rias and Runeas's lighter eyes and she just awkwardly waved at me at being introduced.

With that I coughed however and spoke more firmly. "Well as you know my name is Jake Barriss, and Yang Manli has asked to help guide you ladies in surviving outside the Shelter. I need to know however, if you ladies have any issues I need to be aware of?"

Mio gave Runeas a dry look and she said flatly and sarcastically. "Runeas is obsessed with camels if you couldn't tell. She utterly refuses to use the family's Geno Martial Art due to it not being camel-themed... Nor will she use any Beast Souls that aren't from a Camel!"

My lips twitched hearing that and I gave the proud Runeas a long look before I said dryly. "Runeas... You know our local biome is a forest right? It will take days if not a couple weeks of travel to get anywhere near where any camels will be found?"

She clapped a hand over her chest and said firmly. "I know my handicap will make things more difficult for my path towards godhood as an evolver... But my adoration for Camels will not be polluted with other Beast Souls in my own! Though I will reluctantly eat the flesh of lesser beasts however!"

'Well thats a fucking relief.' I thought with my face twitching before I asked the last question I needed. "Alright then... Do you at least have Beast Souls to defend yourself with then?"

And Runeas smiled smugly with Rias and Mio snorting as Runeas's form was covered in fur like armor that covered her form and had thick loose armor over her boots as though to help her walk over sand or something. "Yes! I have a Mutated tier Camel Coat Beast Soul along with this!"

Runeas then summoned a large mace into her hands with my lips twitching at the absurd size difference and I quickly noted the hoof-like claws at the end of the mace as Rias grumbled.

"A number of the clan's elders and grandparents dote on Runeas after she would always spend Christmas and other holidays with them... Anyway! Lets get going!" Rias called out trying to get things moving as even she noticed the people idly watching Runeas bouncing around.

I nodded and motioned for them to follow me with a hand gesture and after we left the gates of the Black Steel Shelter I asked the girls curiously. "So what would you girls prefer? Hunting beasts in the forest, or trapping fish and other creatures in the rivers?"

All three ladies shared a look before Mio grinned and said excitedly. "I love fish! Its my favorite food and I even brought spices specifically for fish actually! So let's go fishing haha!"

Runeas kinda sagged in place hearing and I hummed as I consulted my mental map and I shrugged and brought the girls towards where I previously was fishing the previous day.

And the time difference between reality and the first level of Sanctuary was all the more apparent as when I got to the tree I knocked over into the massive river, I saw how much of it had been eaten away by fish and other creatures.

'Gotta remember Jake. For every hour that passes in reality, three hours pass here in the First Sanctuary and the time dilation only gets higher as you get to the higher leveled sanctuaries.' I mused before I spoke up.

"Alright so I have an idea, so you ladies see that tree of there closer to the river thats already leaning into it?" At their nods, I smiled and explained how I wanted to set up some weighted nets in the water down the stream from where the tree was hanging. With those nets tied to another tree.

As I had spent a good bit of money getting some metal-reinforced nets and hooks knowing that trapping my prey was the smartest choice regardless of whether it was a land or water creature

So I continued explaining how when I then brought down the tree into the water, the resulting massive effect would drive all the fists and creatures into a frenzy... Directly into our nets.

"Uh Jake, what if we awaken something like a Sacred Blood beast. People don't mess with water for a good reason." Mio spoke with some concern.

To which I nodded and said frankly. "Trapping aquatic creatures is frankly the fastest way to collect Geno points due to how congested and filled with life the rivers are. However, such an issue is possible... And should it happen?"

I shrugged and said bluntly. "Bad luck for us then, it's no different from running into a Sacred Blood creature in the forest. If anything its better for us to be screwed in this case, as we have better chances of running away from an aquatic creature at least."

All three girls didn't look happy at my blunt but very truthful explanation with myself sighing as I brushed a hand across my face and said. "In either case, should something come up out of the water, that is big and scary just run. I will slow it down at the very least I will promise you that."

I clapped my hands and then said firmly with my eyes pinning the girls in place. "Now are there any more questions? Or do we need to go deeper into the forest to try to hunt Stone Squirrels, and other random creatures?"

"Ok Jake we will give you a chance," Runeas said some bravery so after dealing with the nets and throwing them into the water and the girls watching the river like it was going to explode and send demi-god creatures in a tide over us.

I had the girls standing at the ready where the nets were tied to a couple of trees so they could help reel them in, and from there I began cutting down another larger but healthy tree.

And I noticed real fucking quick that the tree's inside the Sanctuary were a lot harder and stronger than normal wood. But after a good fifteen minutes of using the hand saw to cut through the tree I finally made my through the damned thing.

And with a loud crashing noise as the branches snapped as they passed through the canopy above our heads, the large tree fell into the river with a mighty crashing noise and sending a large wave of water down the stream.

'There they are!' I thought as I saw countless dark streaks flitting through the water as they shot through the water and as the fish hit the nets and drew them back, the hooks and magnets around the edge of the nets closed the net around all the creatures.

With the girls crying as the ropes snapped to tautness around the tree's they were tied around I called out. "Let's start reeling them in!"

And with the three girls help who were smart enough to bring their own gloves in case they had to dismantle any corpses. We began pulling in our catches with the mass of fishes and other creatures making it a lot easier due to how they were just floundering against one another.

Finally the first of the three nets broke the surface of the water and violent thrashing hit our ears as a it seemed we got a healthy load of fish, a large turtle the size of a large pig, and some equally large crabs of some sort.

"Water Arrow Crabs!" I snarled out pushing the three girls down instantly as bullets of compressed water shot out towards us and smashing into the forrest behind us with loud snapping noises and out as they hit the trees with force no lesser than any bullet.

I rolled over the girls and with a grunt of effort I kept pulling in the net as I called out with a hiss. "Come on! If we get the crabs out of the water, they can't make any more water arrows, and thats at least a dozen Mutated points for us!"

So with my Soldier Ant armor acting as a bit of protection, I stood at the forefront of pulling the nets to get this load of animals that would be converted into food and thus Geno points.

Once the crabs were out of the water and pulled firmly onto the shore after having expended their water arrows of compressed water. The girls and I began the wonderful process of taking a stick to beat all the animals in the net so once the animals were killed we would all get credit for the kills.

"Alright, there's like six of the Water Arrow Crabs and the turtle looks like it is also a Mutated creature with how its shell is making sparks as it grinds on my metal net. So we all have credit for the creatures in terms of eating, do you want to try your luck at getting the Beast Souls now?" I spoke as I had claimed the turtle and one of the crabs for myself.

Leaving five of the crabs for the three girls and a large serving of the fish that were most likely not even Mutated tier with how they didn't seem to have any special abilities for the person who didn't get a second crab.

The girls nodded and with a smile they manifested their Beast Souls with Rias manifesting a large knife that was on the end of a long handle kinda oddly. Mio had a short spear, and Runeas obviously had that weird mace.

And so we began the grizzly task of killing all our creatures in the hopes of getting the Beast Souls from them.
