Councilman Lancelot stepped out of his carriage and onto the cracked asphalt of the road; behind him was a subordinate assigned with the same task.
As per the orders passed by the council's head, the two council members arrived at Louis' doorstep.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
Silence.
The subordinate sounded another round of knocks on the fine wooden door when he got no reply. When he twisted the doorknob, it was found that it was already unlocked.
And without further ado, the councilmen barged in. At first glance, it would have seemed like the usual empty house, but something wasn't right, and Lancelot was the first to notice.
"Go ask the neighbor whom he handed the letter to earlier, and find out something from them." Lancelot ordered the subordinate, who quickly went to do as told while Lancelot went on searching the rooms.
Before going to inquire from other neighbors, the subordinate first revisited the one he had handed the council meeting letter to.
