Chapter 89 - Carr

As it built up like that, his obsession with cars only increased, which only strengthened the advantages and disadvantages that came with it.

As someone who felt deep obsession and a need to satisfy his cravings for the thrill that he got from his obsession, he began seeking out other less conventional ways.

He had failed to qualify for a college education and had no connections to get him into any place he had an interest in that had anything to do with cars.

The idea of racing cars professionally sounded thrilling, but unrealistic for him, but when there is a will, there is a way.

Even after reaching his late twenties, there were still options left available in the world located in less legal areas.

He had already worked on all kinds of jobs, driving trucks, vans and had tested out several sports cars.

His opportunity came when he was introduced to an underground racing group, which was what got him started on his current career path.

He started going by the name Carr as he joined the underworld racing, where he started to get involved with a new group of people as he became absorbed in the races and the car modifications.

Carr later started to rise through the rankings as he improved rapidly before he started to get noticed.

That was around the time that others started to seek him out to perform driving jobs that required no questions asked, as he had to transport someone or something from one location to a drop-off point.

Such jobs were high risk with high returns, so it was quite a thrill for him.

He invested more into it as he started to make new modifications to his cars that he used for those types of jobs after getting special orders from his contacts.

He already owned several garages with cars inside while his home was filled with all kinds of books, magazines and collectables related to cars.

What Carr did not know was that among those was something that he had gotten from a friend who once visited a carnival.

There was a small comical circus car which had tiny clowns cramped into it on one of its shelves, which had many different car models that were carefully arranged.

Tiffany had known about the existence of Carr for quite some time already, but she did not know what to do with the information she had gained from her observations of him.

She observed him taking calls as he arranged certain types of jobs.

Although he had nobody to represent him or work under anyone, his methods of doing business were quite strict on himself and his customers.

Certain rules needed to be followed by him and his customers, while certain set processes were paid upfront and afterwards while additional payments would have to be made if any changes were made or if there was anything that was added to a job.

Carr was quite particular with certain things when it came to his cars, so any passengers needed to follow the rules that he set for their protection, cooperation and for the safety of himself and his car.

Sometimes he took on smaller jobs, picking up clients once or regularly, but each time he kept to his rules of not prying into their business.

If he had to pick up someone as a part of getaway driver or something similar, then it was just as important that he would be better off not knowing the faces and names of those whose money he was taking.

If there was an unknown package that he had to transport, then he could not take a look at it, so that he could deny knowing what he was transporting, and there would be no need for the customer to worry about having to silence him if he knew too much.

That kind of professionalism and focus toward their profession was just the type of thing that Tiffany needed for her new role as Diablo.

Diablo was not one to reject jobs so long as they paid well and he got to do as he liked.

If he were in the seat of a car, then he felt alive, so the money was just a bonus that could fund his obsession.

Tiffany took control over the body of Diablo before making a call to Carr so that she could arrange his services, which followed with their agreement being finalised.

She may not have recruited him outright, but it was a way to approach him enough to be able to keep using his services and to potentially be able to recruit him in the future.

A black Vauxhall Corsa blended in quite well with a lot of the more popular car brands that were driving on the roads around England and in other parts of the United Kingdom.

It was already quite an easily manoeuvrable car that was popular with families for its versatile storage space, so it blended in quite well as it drove through the streets until it took a sharp turn into a back alley.
