Fortunately, despite the massive explosion, Li Yue didn't sustain much damage. Using his mental control over the Jaeger, he quickly stabilised his position even after being thrown into the air. As he was about to land, he managed to twist his body, landing gracefully on one knee.
He then plunged his three-pointed, double-edged sword into the seabed, using it to anchor himself and absorb the shock of the explosion. Soon, the shockwave subsided, and Li Yue didn't move an inch from his position.
The displaced seawater quickly rushed back to fill the void created by the explosion. After withstanding the force of the returning water, Li Yue stood up and pulled his weapon from the seabed, turning his attention to the monster.
The monster, however, was in a far worse state. The explosion, originating from its mouth, had blown off half its head, exposing bare bone, with flesh scattered who knows where. Its upper body was severely damaged, looking almost unrecognisable.
Even in such dire conditions, Li Yue was surprised that the monster was still alive. Its resilience was astounding.
...
Meanwhile, the other Jaegers nearby weren't greatly affected by the explosion. Yet, except for Gipsy Danger, the other three Jaegers were in precarious situations, unable to match the speed and agility of the monsters underwater. They avoided severe harm but were struggling.
Gipsy Danger, however, was nearing victory against the most miniature monster. Each swing of its massive sword left deep, bone-revealing wounds on the beast. With its limited size, energy, and intelligence, the Category II Kaiju could do little but repeatedly attempt to bite the Jaeger, failing to adapt its tactics despite being wounded several times.
The pilots of Gipsy Danger were handling the situation with relative ease, merely needing to swing their swords whenever the monster approached. After a few minutes, the Kaiju's body was covered in numerous wounds, bleeding profusely.
However, as they awaited another attack, they were surprised to see the monster suddenly stop in its tracks.
"What's going on?" Raleigh and Mako exchanged puzzled glances, unable to understand the sudden change.
Realising they needed to end the fight quickly to assist their teammates, they took the offensive. But they failed to notice the subtle changes occurring in the monster's body—it was swelling like an overinflated balloon, becoming more significant than the nearby Category IV Kaiju. Electric currents began coursing through its body, making it glow brightly.
The creature shone like a miniature sun in the dim ocean depths within seconds.
"Something's wrong! We need to stop it!" Realising the danger, Raleigh and Mako rushed towards the monster with all their might.
"Thank goodness, we made it in time," they thought as they reached the creature, still glowing and swelling. They assumed that a decisive strike would stop whatever the beast was planning.
"Die, you damn beast!" they roared, swinging their giant sword at the monster.
The sword struck true, slicing through the creature with a sound like a balloon deflating rapidly. The monster's body collapsed, seemingly lifeless.
However, their relief was short-lived. Despite being cut in half, the glow from the monster's body did not fade. Instead, it intensified.
Suddenly, a concentrated point of light appeared in the creature's abdomen.
Before they could react, the light rapidly brightened, culminating in a massive explosion that shattered the monster into fragments.
The explosion was accompanied by a wave of silver electrical pulses radiating outward. While the initial blast did minor damage beyond destroying the monster, the electromagnetic pulses were devastating. Despite the Jaeger's built-in defences, Gipsy Danger's systems were overwhelmed, causing it to freeze in place as the powerful electric surge fried vital components.
