Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Transmigration

Chapter 1: Transmigration

I opened my eyes to a wave of heavy disorientation, completely unsure of what to make of my surroundings.

In the distance, a massive galleon was sailing toward the horizon. As I stared at the retreating vessel, a strange sense of familiarity washed over me. I looked down, realizing with a jolt that my perspective was entirely wrong. I felt incredibly small.

I held up my hands—they were the hands of a child. I could feel a weight resting on my head, and when I reached up to check it, my fingers brushed against coarse, woven straw.

Wait, a straw hat? Panic flared in my chest.

Was this a dream? Or was this actually happening? Was I transmigrating?

Before I could spiral any further, a soft, mechanical chime echoed directly inside my mind.

[DING!]

[Congratulations. The Entity at the apex of the Cosmos has granted your wish. Because your desire to transmigrate into the world of One Piece was so overwhelming, your request has been fulfilled.]

[You have been granted a Beginner Package. Would you like to open it?]

I whipped my head around, scanning the docks to see if anyone was watching me. To my immense relief, I was completely alone. Taking a deep breath to steady myself, I decided to just roll with it and address the voice.

"Hello, System. I want to open the Beginner Package, but could you please answer a few of my questions first?"

[Yes, sir. I was created to serve and assist you in any way possible. I can answer any questions within my capabilities. Also, the host does not need to speak aloud; you can communicate with me entirely through your thoughts. If you continue talking to thin air, the locals might assume you have lost your mind.]

I couldn't help but feel a bit pleased by the System's snarky but efficient response.

Okay, then, I thought. First of all, did I really just transmigrate into the world of One Piece?

[Affirmative, Host. You are currently in the world of One Piece, and as you have likely guessed, you have taken on the identity of the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy.]

The confirmation sent a massive spike of adrenaline through me, but it was quickly followed by a heavy sinking feeling. If I was Luffy now, did that mean I had killed the original kid?

As if reading my anxiety, the System replied.

[The Host does not need to worry about displacing the protagonist. You have not killed him; rather, your soul has seamlessly merged with his. If you desire, you can integrate all the memories he has accumulated thus far. Do you wish to proceed?]

Proceed, I thought without hesitation.

Suddenly, a flood of images, emotions, and sensations poured into my mind. I felt a phantom ache in my cheek where a knife had recently cut it, the overwhelming rubbery disgust of a terrible-tasting fruit, and the immense, heartbreaking gratitude toward a red-haired pirate who had sacrificed his arm. It was Luffy's life.

Currently, Luffy was only six years old, so there wasn't a massive lifetime of memories to sort through. But the timeline was clear: he had just eaten the Gomu Gomu no Mi, and the ship I saw sailing away was the Red Force. Shanks had just left. That meant I had a massive head start before canon began. I had years to prepare, train, and become an absolute powerhouse. The realization made me want to throw my hands up and shout at the sky. I was going to fix so many things that had broken my heart when reading the manga.

System, what do you mean by the 'Great Entity' that granted my wish?

[The Great Entity is the apex of the cosmos. He is the law itself, an omnipotent being that knows no equal. Beyond that, mortals are not entitled to further information.]

A sudden wave of genuine gratitude washed over me. Thank you, I thought, directing it upward. I'll be sure to cherish this life.

But then, a pang of guilt hit me. What about my parents from my old world?

[The Host does not need to worry about your previous world. The Great Entity has taken care of everything. In fact, your parents will not even miss you.]

What do you mean they won't miss me?

[The Great Entity has erased your existence from your original world. It is as if you were never born.]

I froze. It was a heavy, terrifying thought, but after a long moment of silence, the lingering influence of Luffy's soul pushed through the melancholy. Luffy didn't dwell on the unchangeable past; he looked forward. I took a deep breath and let it go. There was no use crying over spilled milk.

Okay then. System, do you have a name? Your voice sounds feminine. Is there something I should call you instead of 'System'?

[I do not currently possess a designation. If the Host wishes, you may name me as you see fit.]

I'll name you Selene, after my girlfriend from my old world. And you should just call me Luffy. I need to get used to the name anyway.

[Acknowledged, Luffy. Thank you for the designation. I will do my utmost to assist you.]

Great. So, what exactly are your functions, Selene? How can you help me?

[Simply think the word 'Status' and your interface will appear. From there, you can view your current capabilities and my available functions.]

Status.

A sleek, translucent board materialized in my vision:

Name: Monkey D. Luffy

Level: 1

Age: 6 (Mental Age: 28)

Strength: 7

Agility: 5

Vitality: 29

Haki: Locked

Abilities: Sun God Nika (Dormant)

Fate Points: 50

Shop:

Normal Items

Rare Items

Selene, open the Normal Items shop.

A grid appeared, filled with everyday items—clothes, standard swords, food, and basic tools. Everything seemed to cost around 1 Fate Point. I wasn't going to run out of currency buying mundane things.

How do I get more Fate Points?

[As you grow stronger, you will be rewarded with 10,000 Fate Points every time you level up. Additionally, you receive a daily allowance of 50 Fate Points from the Great Entity. Furthermore, if you alter the established fate of characters within this world, you will receive substantial bonus points. The Entity wishes for you to live your life to the fullest without financial restraint.]

This was the ultimate cheat code.

Close the Normal shop and open the Rare Items shop.

The interface shifted, and my jaw practically hit the floor. The sheer volume of items was staggering. Prices ranged from 5 points to well over 1 million. I saw Devil Fruits, Bloodlines, the Sharingan, the Rinnegan, and even Hashirama's True Several Hundred Hands technique. I was literally going to take this world by storm.

Selene, there's way too much here. Is there a search function?

[Just tell me what you require, and I will filter the inventory for you.]

Search for a Haki Awakening Pill, or something similar.

[A Basic Haki Awakening Pill costs 20 points. This will forcibly unlock your latent Armament and Observation Haki. To awaken Conqueror's Haki, a separate pill costing 70 points is required.]

I had 50 points now, and I'd get another 50 tomorrow. I could buy the basic one today and Conqueror's tomorrow. Buy the Basic Haki Awakening Pill.

A small pill materialized in my palm. I tossed it back and swallowed. Instantly, a surge of raw, unbridled energy exploded in my chest, coursing through every fiber of my muscles. I focused, channeling that heat toward my right hand. The skin darkened, taking on a metallic, black sheen. Armament Haki. I let out a breathless laugh, though the exertion quickly caught up with me, and the dark coating faded after just a few seconds.

Next, I closed my eyes and reached out with my senses. For a brief moment, I could feel the presence of the seagulls on the docks and the townsfolk back in the village. Observation Haki. The range was incredibly short, and holding it gave me a mild headache, but the foundation was there. I had years to master it.

Selene, let's open that Beginner Package now.

[Opening Beginner Package...]

[Ding!]

Manga Box: Allows you to read any newly released manga chapters from your original world.

Body Strengthening Pill: Permanently enhances baseline physical attributes.

Inventory Ring: Unlimited dimensional storage. Time is frozen inside; items will never degrade.

Devil Fruit Purifier: Removes the sea's curse from a Devil Fruit user, restoring their ability to swim.

100,000 Fate Points: Added to your balance.

The rewards were insane. The Inventory Ring appeared first—a heavy gold band inscribed with the fierce visage of Sun Wukong. It was a beautiful piece of mythic art. I slid it onto the middle finger of my left hand.

Can anyone else use this ring or steal it?

[No. It is soul-bound. Furthermore, I can render it invisible to the naked eye; only individuals you explicitly permit will be able to perceive it.]

Make it invisible, I commanded. I didn't need treasure hunters coming after a six-year-old for a magic ring.

Next, I pulled out the Devil Fruit Purifier. It looked like a small, swirling blue fruit. I took a bite. The taste was surprisingly crisp, and almost immediately, a heavy, oppressive weight I hadn't even realized was sitting on my chest simply vanished. I felt incredibly light. The ocean was no longer my enemy. A massive, trademark D. grin stretched across my face. The Marines and pirates of this world were going to lose their minds when they saw a Devil Fruit user taking a swim.

I instructed Selene to set up the Manga Box to notify me whenever a new One Piece chapter dropped. I needed to know how the endgame of my old world played out.

Now, I needed a plan. My seventh birthday was in two months. That was when Grandpa Garp would return to Foosha Village, drag me into the mountains, and dump me with the Dadan Family. That was where I would meet Ace.

And that was my first major goal. I was going to save Ace, no matter what it took. Oda may have written his death, but I was going to rewrite it. Hell, I might even save Whitebeard while I was at it. Having the Strongest Man in the World owe you a favor wasn't a bad tactical move.

Selene, I want to spend some of those Fate Points to get stronger before Garp arrives, but I don't want to blow it all or become completely untouchable yet. Spend up to 59,000 points on highly effective training abilities and baseline stat boosters.

[Processing... Purchasing Shadow Clone jutsu, Flash Step, Basic Body Hardening, and assorted foundational skills. Applying stat modifiers.]

I opened my status to look at the results.

Name: Monkey D. Luffy

Level: 1

Age: 6 (Mental Age: 28)

Strength: 109

Agility: 97

Vitality: 730

Haki: Armament (Lv 1), Observation (Lv 1), Conquerors (Lv 1)

Abilities: Sun God Nika (Dormant), Shadow Clone (Lv 1), Flash Step (Lv 1), Body Hardening (Lv 1), +68 minor skills.

Fate Points: 41,030

My eyes practically turned to stars.

Wait, Selene, why is my Level still 1 if my stats are so high?

[Items and abilities only improve your base metrics and give you the tools. Your Level is an overall reflection of your combat experience, mastery, and physical conditioning. You cannot buy your way to a higher Level; you must bleed and sweat for it.]

Fair enough. Being handed absolute power without having to work for it sounded boring anyway. I didn't want to be the One Piece version of Saitama—just punching things once and going home. I wanted to fight. I felt Luffy's innate desire for a thrilling adventure burning inside me. I was willing to put in the work, especially knowing there was a mysterious, terrifying ruler sitting on the Empty Throne at the end of the Grand Line.

Selene, show me how I compare to the top tiers. Pull up Whitebeard's status.

Name: Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

Level: 874

Age: 76

Strength: 10,981

Agility: 6,309

Vitality: 4,120

Haki: Observation (Lv 10), Armament (Lv 10), Conquerors (Lv 10)

(Note: Subject is heavily degraded due to age and illness. Prime statistics are exponentially higher.)

I stared at the numbers. Okay, so I was literally an insect right now. But that was fine. I set my new goal: I was going to surpass those numbers before I even set sail at age seventeen.

With my path set, I headed back to Makino's bar to grab some food. The soul-merge had left me absolutely starving, and I found myself craving an ungodly amount of meat.

As the days turned into weeks, my routine changed. I still laughed loud, ate half the village's food supply, and messed around, but every spare second was dedicated to the grind. Using the Shadow Clones—which was an absolute cheat code for accelerated training—I threw myself into mastering my Haki and Devil Fruit. The villagers noticed I was a bit more focused, but to them, I was still just the loud, hyperactive kid with a straw hat.

By the time two months had passed, I had ground my way up to Level 69.

The morning of my birthday arrived with a cool sea breeze. And right on schedule, a Marine battleship adorned with a massive dog-head figurehead dropped anchor in the harbor.

Grandpa Garp was home.
