They were still quite far from being any closer than that, as most of their interactions seemed to be professional and did not involve much else that would be shared by those who were very close to the point of being friends with each other.

He kept going on and on about how he was not involved in the heist and did not find out about it until after it happened. He told me how those involved with it had learned about the heist happening as a result of his carelessness.
It was not until after it had happened that he was paid off with some of the money that had been taken to bring him into their plans so that they could gain more information to use from him for the next heist.
