If there was something that had changed Ash to make that type of decision, then there would be some reason behind it, and there was no rush for Cheryl to learn about it until Ash came looking for whatever it would be that she needed.
If there was something that would have caused such a change in Ash to make her so desperate, then it would either have to be settled using money or some other method.
If it could be solved with money, then that would be more than enough reason for Ash to wish to rise higher so that she could earn more to pay off whatever needed paying off or to raise funds for something that could not be so easily obtained.
If it could not be solved with money, then there would surely be a time when Ash would come to make use of her status in Cerberus to ask for help with something related to it.
