Chapter 28 - Chapter 2.14.4: Moving On

The trees in the forest kept breaking down around me—some even fell from the sky, others just seemed to erupt and tried to blind me. Dirt and sand consistently blocked my view.

Every few seconds, I'd hear Remi scream my name and hurl curses at me as multiple black-purple, misshapen projectiles tried to latch onto my body, forming a shape that just made it harder to survive.

I just kept running toward the direction of the main house. Every once in a while, I'd glance at the maids and the farmhands. They'd giggle as I sped past—a little help could save me from all this.

I made a left, and then a right, and then a cut into the path. Part of the mansion was in sight. I kept on running, knowing that was my only chance to escape. The path started breaking apart too, my balance started feeling loose, it was getting to hard to move. The sound of a monster kept growing wilder and louder. At this point, I was convinced that if I tripped, I might as well just accept it as it is .

But as I jumped off layers of broken ground, someone came into my vision—a peculiarly tall man dressed in black stood right in front of the mansion. He met my eyes. Why's he here? But I had no time to question—I just used it to my advantage.

Hands started growing from below my feet, so I cracked one of my mana stones and flew straight to the man. I circled behind him and held him by his legs for some cover.

I peeked as the giant monster dematerialized and reformed into Remi. He ran up to us, his glaring eyes glued on me and his teeth were like fangs.

He stood about three feet away and started yelling, "Get over here, you coward!" He tried circling, but then I started circling too—we went around twice before the man intervened.

"Come on, that's enough. Stop it," he said, then looking at me. "Both of you."
