"Remi?"
I looked around me but he couldn't be seen.
I searched for traces of his mana, but they all disappeared before I could find his exact location.
Where did he go? I went into the forest and yelled his name repeatedly. I looked in the bushes, and even inside the lakes, you never know where Remi could be hiding. Is this a game?
I called out one more time, and this time , he actually answered. "Jikan, over here!"
I followed his voice, and when I found him, he was crouched in front of a bush. "Check this out," he said; his hands looked like they were picking up something from the floor.
He turned to me with his hands folded as if praying, walking up to me, and when he opened up his hands, it was the most disgusting thing I'd ever seen, I don't even have the words to describe it.
I tried my best to just nod and walk away, but I had to ask him. "What the fuck is that?"
"It's a Carelopede! Probably even the last of it's kind. I remember being told that these things went extinct 50 years ago. I can't believe there's one still here!"
That thing's alive? I tried my best to back away from it, but Remi just kept bringing it closer.
"Hey, you should try holding it."
"No thanks."
"C'mon, just try it."
"No."
"It'll feel nice, I promise." Remi's eyes were so bright and persuasive
"...fine." Remi made a faint victory chuckle as I put my hands beneath his. He slowly set his hands apart, and the Carelopede slowly drooped down from his hands like slime.
Before I even realised it, I had grabbed both of Remi's palms and firmly clapped them together.
Both of us stood in silence as it remained stained both of our clothes.
"You... you killed it."
I sighed with relief, "Praise God." Then let go of Remi's hands. "Okay, let's go."
Not long after Remi started growling. I started running without looking back. The sounds of destruction coming from behind me where the only signs I needed to know that I shouldn't stop for a second.
