Kai walked through the dark tunnels under the city. His footsteps made small sounds on the wet stone floor. The memory of the old man's message was still clear in his mind.
"Three crystals hold the key to saving all worlds," he said to himself. "I must find them before the Shadow does."
The tunnel walls were covered with strange writing. Some words looked familiar, but most were in a language Kai had never seen. He touched one of the symbols with his finger. It felt warm.
Suddenly, a bright blue light filled the tunnel. Kai closed his eyes and felt a rush of memories that were not his own. He saw a tall woman with silver hair holding a crystal that glowed like a star.
"The first crystal is hidden in the Place of Lost Dreams," the woman's voice echoed in his mind. "Only one who can see true memories will find it."
When the light faded, Kai opened his eyes. A small door had appeared in the wall where there was nothing before. The door was made of dark metal with the same glowing symbols.
Kai took a deep breath. He knew this was the path to the first crystal. But what was the Place of Lost Dreams? And why did he feel like someone was watching him?
He pushed the door open. Cold air rushed out, carrying the smell of old flowers and forgotten tears. Beyond the door was a long staircase going down into darkness.
"This is it," Kai whispered. "The search for the first crystal begins now."
He stepped through the door and started down the stairs. Each step took him deeper into a place where lost dreams went to die. But Kai did not know that the Shadow was already waiting for him in the darkness below.
