The boy's eyes snapped open. Another dream within a dream. Sweat covered his body.
Despite it being a dream, he knew for a fact it was real. He could just feel it.
He got up and left his room. He found his father, and requested further training. His father didn't understand why, but naturally obliged.
From then on, he took things far more seriously. He also spent a bit more time with his little brother, who the man has said would be an important part of saving the Multiverse.
Years passed as the boy practiced. He was a genius in every way. Whether it was complicated technique or forgotten methods, he was able to master and recreate all of them.
Even those techniques that required the rarest affinities in the Universe to learn were easily mastered by him. Anyone near his level was instantly obliterated, and most unique of all was the special power he used as a trump card.
Most everyone knew its name, but seeing it in action was completely different. This was Chaos Qi, something no being should be able to manipulate. But only the absolute strongest in the Universe understood exactly how incredible this was.
The only person who should be able to manipulate Chaos Qi in such a way was Zhou Fan.
Sure, they could forcefully make it move, and even shape it, but they could not truly use it. Not like this young being, whose talent seemed to overshine all of theirs.
Even Lord Lu intended to take the boy as a disciple until Zhou Fan declared that he was his. This stopped those ancient beings who had both good and bad intentions from so much as interacting with the boy.
Most of those below that level could be handled by the boy's father or other family members, and those in between who took an interest in the boy were stopped by the ancient beings and warned. The few who ignored it disappeared from the Universe. After a few Sage Years, he reached the Peak of the Great Dao realm. That was when Zhou Fan once again appeared in his dreams.
It was on top of a stormy mountain that they met.
"You again!" The boy said.
"My name is Zhou Fan." Zhou Fan said.
"Oh. My name is Hun Luan." The boy said.
"Now that introductions are over, I have decided to change course. You will journey to me, and I will help you forge your own power. You must bring your brother as well." Zhou Fan said.
He had thought it over, and it would be best if he could help the boy in person as well. Otherwise, unintended errors could occur.
Zhou Fan gave Hun Luan directions.
"At the very top of the Multiverse?" Hun Luan asked.
"Yes. That is where I will wait. You must not break through before you come."
"How can I travel outside of a Universe without even being a False Immortal?"
"That is a challenge you must overcome. There are plenty of ways to do so."
The dream ended and Hun Luan jumped up in a cold sweat.
He first went to find his father.
"Father, what is at the top of the Multiverse?"
His father shrugged. "I couldn't tell you. That place is surely occupied by unimaginably powerful ancient beings. If one of them got annoyed at me, I could be swatted to death. I don't dare go without a life or death matter being involved. Why do you ask?"
"Because I need to go there." Hun Luan said.
His father paused what he was doing and turned around. "I just told you how dangerous it is. You're not even a False Immortal yet. Don't be foolish."
Hun Luan shrugged. "It is necessary. I'm not asking, I'm just informing you."
Hun Luan prepared to leave when his father spoke. "Wait."
Hun Luan turned around.
"There is someone that owes me a favor. Please, let him accompany you towards the top of the Multiverse, though he won't dare go too far." His father said.
"Thank you, father." Hun Luan said.
Hun Luan's father nodded.
A few days later, a man with a beard that nearly touched the floor appeared. "You've finally decided to use up that favor, Old Hun."
Hun Luan's father nodded. "This is going to sound bad, but promise you will think it through."
"Haha." The old man laughed. "You saved my life. No favor is too big for an old friend."
"I'm really glad you said that. So, can you please accompany my son to the top of the Multiverse?"
"Absolutely not. Have you lost your mind?" The old man asked.
Hun Luan's father sighed. "I know it is a big ask, but think about it like this. You know my son is among the most talented beings ever born. Isn't that good Karma something far more valuable than a favor?"
"You have to be alive for good Karma to mean anything. You've heard as many stories of that place as I have."
"I am not asking you to truly reach the top, but make sure he gets to the danger point safely. Beyond that, there is nothing anybody can do."
The old man thought about it for a moment before sighing. "Fine. This favor has been used up. We'll depart tomorrow."
Hun Luan's father breathed a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Old Fu. You are much stronger and wiser than I am."
"No shit idiot."
The next day, Hun Luan's father appeared with an awkward expression.
The old man rolled his eyes. "You're almost out of luck. What is it now?"
"It seems that my son intends to bring his brother with him."
As he spoke, Hun Luan appeared with his little brother.
"No. A Peak Great Dao realm cultivator is one thing, but that brat can't so much as survive in space."
Hun Luan's brother spoke. "I can survive in space."
This drew everyone's attention. Even his father was surprised.
"But you don't have any cultivation, or any progress in any other path." The old man said.
"I can basically teleport, and this surprises you?"
His father nodded understandingly at that.
