Eda's heart started beating frantically as though fire alarms had gone off in her chest.
She walked barefoot along the hallway, hugging her broom as if clinging to dear life. Her steps were light as a feather, afraid of making a sound.
"What have I done? What in the world have I done?" she mumbled, as though she couldn't understand what was happening. Her eyes were bloodshot from crying for hours.
Creak.
Opening the door to the topmost floor office of the castle, Eda, Amelia's maid, gulped nervously, closing the door behind her with caution.
Eda had a sick, frightened feeling that made her scowl and feel ashamed. "I need to report to His Highness, the Crown Prince."
"It wasn't my fault to begin with. It was that witch Amelia's fault. How am I supposed to not fall for her brainwashing? That dirty little rat should have just accepted her fate and marriage arrangement. It's not my fault; His Highness Adis will understand."
