Chapter 69 - Groundhog hour (7)

In the empty training grounds, I laid on the sandy ground, with my bones cracked to pieces, blood flowing out of every corner of my vessel, the only thing that held it all together was my mind.

"Status..." I groaned, mustering up the last of my strength.

Although I didn't want the Strength Force, I don't mind having an extra trump card. However, I don't plan on developing it since that has a chance to mess with your dna and turn you into a monster.

----------

Warning due to the unexpected changes occuring to your body due to the Strength Force, you will experience extreme pain!

----------

Whatever it doesn't matter... It will reset in ten or so minutes anyways...

----------

Unknown DNA detected... Cancelling the process until the DNA has been scanned.

----------

What?

----------

Unknown DNA is overriding the Strength Force... Strength Force is being rejected by the DNA.

----------

What the...

Then came the unimaginable pain, striking the very parts of my vessel that held it together.

I couldn't even shout, not because I was able to hold back the pain, no, my vocal cords had been severely damaged. I couldn't even speak if I wanted to.

----------

Unknown DNA and Strength Force are making your body collapse. Estimated lifespan: 5 seconds.

----------

So that's how it is... A second death... A villain's life sure ain't easy...

----------

Farewell, Ray Allen.

----------

Fuck off...

"Hah... What the hell just happened?" I questioned myself, placing my right hand on my forehead.

When the Strength Force tried to enter my body, a strange message showed up all of a sudden saying that my DNA fought back with it... That wasn't supposed to happen...

According to Ryuk, the body I reincarnated inside of was definitely human but the world system says otherwise. I know that Gray Allen was a failed metahuman, someone who failed to awaken their meta ability... Then is it my mother?

I never bothered to write any details of background characters who died in the prologue. Is this my retribution?

I need to take care of this problem as soon as possible, if I were to accidentally get the Strength Force then I will die just like last time. I need to call Alfred...

"Wally, call Alfred. I need to ask him something," I ordered, sitting on my bed and waiting for Wally to do as he was asked.

Wally hopped down from the ceiling and sat on my left shoulder before projecting a hologram in front of me.

The blue hologram showed a picture of Alfred and behind him was a kid trying to look at the hologram from the other end. The kid had white hair and red eyes with a cute face to top it off. That was Edward Allen, the son of Thomas Allen, my cousin in short.

He should be eight years old soon enough, I shall prepare a gift for him.

"Hello young master, I hope you are doing well," Alfred spoke first. "Is there something bothering you? You don't usually call at this hour, and seeing your expression... It looks like you are sad about something. Did something happen?"

"No, nothing major happened. I was just thinking about something, Alfred, do you know who my mother was?" I asked, hoping for an answer.

"Why would you ask such a question all of a sudden? Did someone tell you something?" Alfred asked back, starting to worry that something might have happened to me.

"No it's not like that... If someone asked me about my parents they wouldn't be alive right now," I said with a cold glint in my eyes. "I was curious... I wanted to know who she was or what she was... As you know, my meta ability is different from our bloodline ability. I was curious, was my mother a metahuman or some kind of alien?"

"As far as I am aware of, your mother came from a different Earth. Earth-785 to be exact, she came to Earth-5 on a tour. She was a researcher who took interest in an ancient time machine fragment of our Earth. Alas, it was stolen from the Flash Museum and the detective on the case was your father-"

"Wait wait wait, I didn't call you to ask about my parent's love story!" I interrupted Alfred, stopping him from continuing any further. "Just tell me one thing, was my mother a human or an alien."

"A human, why do you ask?" Alfred asked, curiously.

"..."

This complicated things even further, if my mother was a human and my father was a meta human, then shouldn't I inherit their DNA? What is wrong with this fucked up storyline?!

... Wait a time machine fragment... Sometimes a time machine fragment may affect those arround it to absorb temporal energy. It mostly affects babies... Oh no...

"Alfred, did my parents have me during the investigation about the time machine fragment?" I asked in a hurry.

"I don't know the details but, I think they were on the case around that time. Your mother had you just after the time machine fragment was returned to the museum," Alfred answered, looking visibly confused by my questions.

All of it sums it up, basically I am a human but with temporal aura. My race was altered my the time machine fragment before I was born... Maybe that's why my mother died... Too much temporal aura can cause a person to age faster in a single second. She was safe from my temporal aura before my birth but just after I was born, her resistance to the temporal aura fell down causing her internal organs to collapse...

I was the reason my mother died... The thought itself was enough to break me down but I held myself together... I can't break down... Not yet... Not ever...

My mother died so that I could live, my father died protecting me, Holborn sacrificed himself to buy me time... It looks like... I am slowly becoming a pathetic protagonist myself...

No... I am not a protagonist, if I was then I wouldn't struggle so much. I am an antagonist, the bearer of all these pain, I have to be better than that pathetic protagonist.

"Thank you, Alfred," I said. "Thank you for answering my questions, I will be sure to call you later. I have work to do."

Saying my goodbye, I cut off the call and got back to work.

"Attributes... Shouldn't be a problem for me to figure them out..."
