After spending all of my energy to save all those students, I was carried to the infirmary by Edward and Sylvia. The doctors tried to open the suit but gave up soon enough when the auto defence system activated on its own and tried to shoot him. Fortunately Edward saved him or else he would have died on spot.
The infirmary was separated into different sections to avoid spreading infections and viruses if a student were to ever get any. They were especially careful with the children of the five great families more than anything. If I got any infections then all the blame would fall on the doctor... Some bloody management system they have.
When I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was Wally. He had stuck himself to the ceiling and turned invisible to guard me more efficiently while I rested. If not for my suit, I wouldn't be able to detect his presence. Hm, adding the emotion of loyalty seemed to have increased his defensive capabilities. I should try to add some other emotions to him as well but one step at a time.
By the time I woke up Edward was long gone along with Dr. Reinhardt to search for mechanic to get the suit off of me. Sylvia was sitting beside my bed patiently, waiting for me to wake up.
"I told them to wait for a bit but they didn't listen," she said after I sat up and deactivated my suit.
"Good thing, I hate injections," I replied, taking out my TWG (Timey Wimey Gadget) and scanning myself with it.
"What is that?" Sylvia asked.
"Oh, I haven't introduced you to my newest creation, I call it the Timey Wimey Gadget, don't judge it's name. This thing can detect the alterations in the timeline, scan someone or something to find foreign objects in their bodies, detect any sort of viruses, infection or parasite, solve puzzles, open any sorts of doors, or trapdoors, change elements and cause elemental reactions, produce enough heat to start a fire and so on," I explained while Sylvia stared at me with a puzzled face.
"So basically... You have created a device that takes away the job of all sorts of doctors and healers, and then gave it a stupid name that will make them cry," Sylvia said, trying to hold back her laughter, she then continued,
"At first... I thought that you were possessed by some god or something when you acted like that in the training grounds but now..."
SLAP
In just a second she speed blitzed towards me and slapped me so hard that it almost dislocated my lower jaw.
"I probably deserved that at some point," I murmured, after relocating my jaw at the right spot and regenerating it.
"Next time you do something crazy... I will smack you so hard that you won't be able to regenerate it," Sylvia warned me with a serious tone.
"Can you not target my face the next time around, bit hard to regenerate," I replied.
"You think this is a joke? In almost every single battle we have fought together, you have charged right in without discussing your plan with your teammates, you even removed John from the team because he wasn't skilled enough or in your terms fast enough... You asked me to trust you... Why can't you trust us?" Sylvia asked with a serious but sad face. "This is not a novel, Ray... This is not a fantasy world created by someone else. This is the real world, people die here... Some people fight for a cause and some people fight without it but in the end they all meet the same fate... I might sound selfish but I have already lost too many to care anymore, aliens are the first one to face the threat when any outer galactic threat arises, I don't even know if my mother will return home safely or not... All I can do is put my faith in her. So please, try not to die..."
For a brief moment none of us spoke a word to the other. The whole room was filled with silence.
After a few minutes I took my TWG and swinged it around the room to turn off all kinds of devices power by energy except the light and the AC, just for an extra measures I asked Wally to put up a sound barrier.
"Demon souls," I said, breaking the silence between us.
"What?" Sylvia looked at me with a confused expression.
"You asked me to trust you, so I am trusting you by revealing a secret. I have been collecting demon souls," I replied. "Six years ago, I made a deal with a contract demon. He had something that I needed... A dead god's soul. He said he would exchange it for a hundred demon souls. I know it sounds cheap, I don't understand fourth dimensional beings honestly. He said that he is on the higher end of the bargain but I didn't have a choice either-"
"Wait wait wait! First tell me why would you even trust a demon in the first place, look I know it's a contract demon but it's a demon nonetheless," Sylvia asked, interrupting my words.
"I put it inside a demon trap before I summoned it and made it sign a written contract with a certain loopholes that he didn't read," I grinned.
"You are telling me you tricked a demon?" Sylvia asked.
"That's exactly what I am telling you," I answered. "I already have everything I need. Gotham is filled with demons, it just took me a day and a half to get those demon souls but I needed some more materials to create the artifact. An artifact that can generate divine energy. Quite hard to find all those materials if you ask me but I eventually found most of them. I figured that I may need another demon soul to lessen the divine energy in the god's soul. It would take a while but I will manage to make it soon enough."
"And what about-"
"Shhh! One secret at a time," I smiled putting my index finger on my lips. "I will answer your questions later, I have to go now."
