Chapter 24 - The Pirate Revolution

I was furious.

No, furious wasn't even the word. Furious didn't scratch the surface of what I was feeling as I stormed upstairs to my room, every muscle in my body clenched so tight it felt like I could snap. My jaw ached from how hard I was grinding my teeth. My hands shook with the force of my rage.

I couldn't even remember the last time I'd been this angry—not even during fights or training. This was something different. This was cold and hot at the same time. This was the kind of anger that made my vision blur and my heartbeat roar in my ears.

I wasn't just mad at Chris.

I was disgusted with her.

And my mom—God, my mom. The woman who was supposed to set an example. The one who always talked about class and decency and respect. She'd sat there and laughed. Laughed while Blake—Blake, of all people—sat humiliated in that goddamn pumpkin costume, trying to hold himself together like he wasn't about to break right in front of all of us.

And she laughed.
