Chapter 6 - Deadline

The group entered the passage and walked down it for a very long time. They found a cave filled with papers and other trinkets similar to the cabin.

Rafael was holding Lucielle in his hands and the twins held onto his clothes. The man let out a sigh.

"Why do I feel like my occupation has drastically changed?" Rafael thought

Lucielle asked, " Can I have that?"

Rafael handed her a green gem and sat down with Lucielle on his lap. He was worried she'd accidentally harm herself since her eyes weren't green.

"What is it, Luci?" Alexandra asked

"Luci?" Alexander repeated

Alexandra smiled, "Yep, that's you're nickname I came up with."

"It's a monster's heart," Lucielle answered letting the nickname thing slide

Rafael quickly took back the heart and the kids were confused. He put the heart out of reach and looked down at Lucielle.

"How sure are you that's a heart?" Rafael asked changing the topics

"Monsters from cores where their energy is stored. If you shatter it, you can kill it." Lucielle informed

Rafael remembers when he attacked the spike ball and understood how he beat it. The circles at that time were showing areas where energy was concentrated aka the core.

Alexander asked, "Do you fight monsters?"

"Yes. Lately, they've been increasing for some reason. Spirits have also been corrupted by something." Lucielle told

Rafael frowned, "Why do you need to fight them?"

"They're attracted to people who can sense them. So please be careful, everyone." Lucielle informed with a small smile

"Isn't it weird? I haven't experienced many monsters and I'm overqualified based on what you've said." Rafael told

"Um, guys." Alexandra said with a pale face "We might have a problem."

Alexandra held a journal with only one page and read out loud: " I did my best, it found me and I failed my mission. They will implement their man soon."

She showed a calendar with a day marked on it and they were stiff. Rafael frowned and only more questions although not enough answers.

" We don't even know what the plan is? What is it to make this writer seem so remorseful." Rafael thought

Lucielle's eyes glowed green, "They'll kill us all...."

"Luci?" the twins replied

Red tears ran down her cheeks, and scraps all over the room came and pieced together into pages. The pages started to arrange themselves and fix themselves on the cover of the journal.

"I don't wanna...they'll-" Lucielle cried

Rafael covered her eyes and gave her a hug, "Have a little faith in this adult. I'll stop them, that's why I'm here."

Rafael noticed a strong look from the twins and Lucielle as if confirming if he was being honest. Lucielle fell asleep.

"Distrustful brats." Rafael thought

Alexandra's head started to hurt as she looked at the calendar and journal. She bit her lower lip as they got everything that looked useful and went to a back door.

"What's wrong?" Alexander sighed

Alexandra replied, "I remember. This journal...I remember it."

"Let's go to my place first," Rafael told

Oddly the back door leads to the dump site of Silentvile. Delmira struggled through the waste, Alexander helped her out and they all went to Rafael's house.

"Where did you see the journal?" Rafael asked

Alexandra swallowed, "Our...our mother sent it as a gift to her father in Silentvile. She...she said something..."

"What?" Rafael asked

Alexandra grabbed Rafael, her face was twisted with complex emotions and a cold sweat ran down her forehead.

"That's the thing....we can't." She panted "It hurts when I-"

"Let's call it a day...hmm?" Rafael smiled

The twins nodded, Rafael reassured them he would take care of Lucielle and they went home. Rafael's nails dug into his palms and anger was in his eyes.

"What type of bastard would do that to a child?" Rafael thought "Forced memory erasure...."

" Okay?" Sylvia worried

"Not okay. These guys have been working on this for a long time." Rafael frowned "They tried to cover their tracks but...I'll catch them."

"Woof?" Delmira reacted

"Hey, girl." Rafael sighed patting her head

He noticed something stuck in her collar. Rafael sighed realizing it was probably because they were forced to move through the dump. He removed the paper and gasped.

It had a stamp although Rafael knew where it was from. The Police Station and luckily there was only one in Silentvile.

"Maybe I should get a dog. Man's best friend after all." Rafael smiled

Rafael turned and found Lucielle ' looking at ' him with a tilted head. He sat nearby and looked at her silently.

Lucielle was in a long sleeve, trousers, and boots. What was disturbing was that the girl was clearly feeling hot in her attire.

"That's not my business though." Rafael thought with a sigh

Rafael smiled, "Do you want me to take you home?"

"No I can go on my own," she answered quickly as if automatic

Delmira seemed to want to go with Lucielle for some reason. Rafael lead the ladies to the door and opened the door. He finally noticed how dark it was out there although perhaps Lucielle was used, he thought.

"Mr. Rafael," Lucielle said

"Yeah?" he responded

Lucielle's eyes were glowing ominously with the starry night as a background.

"We don't have much time...I hope we can catch them." she smiled "Ah...of all the death cases, I killed fifteen of them."

Rafael's jaw dropped at the youngest killer he had ever met. The darkness seemed to swallow her away as Lucielle walked away.

"Scared?" Sylvia smiled at Rafael

"Nah." Rafael responded as he closed the door "I don't have time for such emotions yet."

Blue lines suddenly appeared over the living room with all the evidence. Rafael had covered up every painting, mirror, and hole in the house.

"I have to work hard since my life depends on it now." Rafael smiled

Lucielle stopped in front of a person. Delmira's eyes had a faint purple glow as she let out a low growl at the person. Her uncle dragged her by the hair to the basement with a stick in his other hand.

She had a weary look on her face, "I'm tired...how long should-"

Lucielle's eyes locked with Alexander's eyes. He had gone outside because he had sensed Delmira's presence and he saw Lucielle disappear to the basement. It was silent like the calm before the storm.
