When I woke up in the morning, I went through my morning routine quickly. I quickly put up a couple of random outfits for votes and then made breakfast after signing off. I quickly changed into something better for inside the pod, which I then got inside and signed on without a shower.
I will probably stink later today when I log out.
I did not care about this as I logged into the game and woke up. I kissed Ura, who was sleeping beside me with her nice, tempting breasts out, and I got to work. I quickly put on the rebreather devices that Emma picked up, which were not that expensive on Barvine. It cost ten thousand credits in total for the four of us.
Meemee was just finishing up her packing and quickly finishing getting ready. She looked like an adult getting ready to go to school. Sure, the gear on her legs made her look punk, but the backpack was big and bulky, looking like she was getting ready to go to school. The color changed, though, and she grinned as the backpack turned to the greens that we were expecting on the ground of Burvine.
Emma suited herself up with some flashbangs, handguns, and ammo. I had her become the supply point. She was carrying the extra supplies and ammo. She loaded herself up with extras, plus the grenade launcher. She was happy to have a main role that was so important. All of us were carrying supplies to set up camp and various things we might need on the planet, including extra oxygen tanks and rebreathers, so we had a backup. Even if one of us got separated, we would be able to survive.
I got suited up in my armor, and my supply pack came onto my back, and I winced at how much it stood out. It was not the right place for this area, but it was what I had at this time. Another learning experience. Get something like Meemee had. Changes colors so that it can go into a variety of different combat areas, and I can change it on the fly. I would have to make due for now, so I looked at Enyo, who was grinning.
Enyo might have looked ripped up and battle-scared, but you could see her excitement to be back at the job she loved. Last night, we quickly went out and purchased her the weapon of her choice: the 7900 series Pericer Fericer. The stats on it were rough. This thing was meant to sweep, and it would kill you so fast.
The bandolier was as long as you wanted, and her backpack was FULL of ammo and her meager supplies. She was our heavy weapon, and she carried the extra special weapon I got from the gold bitch with her. We brought two rounds, and both were packed up. It was going to be a cold day in hell if we had to use that baby.
All of these factors brought us to the fresh vehicle purchase stage.
One of the lovely things that I had forgotten, and the floating cities had not, was transportation on the surface, which came with specialized grav plats and was not exactly cheap. So, I held back from cursing and bought an armored skimmer with a changing color scheme. It was not as good as my armor for hiding, but it would be able to hide in our environment with a little help.
So we packed up even more extra supplies in the car and gathered into the armored planet skimmer. It was not like the junk I had back in the first days of the tutorial. This one allowed us to return to the floating cities, but obviously was not meant for space.
After getting ready, we headed out of the spaceport with my shotgun, assault rifle, and sniper rifle. The flight to the peninsula was longer than I thought it would be, and we came at it from the outside. We did not come in from the sea but from the land bridge, where we were less easily spotted. Mayn would expect us to come from the beach, so we landed a kilometer out from the land bridge.
"Why are you parking here?" Enyo asked as I brought the skimmer down to Burvine.
"Because I think the Front door is what they are least going to expect, Enyo," I told her slowly as I found a little beach spot with large rocks surrounding it. Honestly, it is a ten out of ten place to hide the Skimmer. I quickly brought it down, going towards the ocean and coming in low to where I spotted, "Think about it: these people are working in a limited area with few resources, cut off from the main continent. It is basically an island and rocky. So, coming in from the land bridge is easily defended. If I wanted to attack this place, there are three beach areas that are much better to attack from. So, where would you think you're going to get attacked?" I asked her.
"Well, I get what you are thinking, but it will still probably be the most defended area!" Enyo complained, and I shrugged.
"We are about to find out," I said as I brought the skimmer into the final landing phase and parked it on the rock-covered beach. At least I found a great parking space," I commented, and I got a round of nods.
We all hopped out, and I pointed at Meemee, "Get us scouting ahead and check out what we are dealing with, preferably without being noticed. Emma, saddle up some extra ammo and be ready to engage. Enyo, you're our heavy backup, but I would rather you not shoot if we are going silent. If things go loud, I want you to mow them down. I am going to scout out whatever you point out, Meemee. Everyone should comms and keep chatter to a minimum. We want to be leaving with our prizes by the end of the day. That gives us sixteen hours to play with."
Everyone nodded, and I watched as Meemee released more drones into the air as I pulled out my assault rifle and put my sniper on my back. I chose to leave my shotgun in the back of the skimmer for now, and we moved out.
With everyone loaded up, we got up off the beach and started to cross the land bridge. In front of us lay a bridge that arched with a large, massive set of rocks into the sea, making it look like a man-made bridge. The rocks thrust out and high like towers through the bridge, though, giving cover to those looking to cross, and no large vehicles could land.
If the bandits on the other side knew what they were doing, all it would take was some anti-air, and most of the defense would have been done, so we came from far out and were crossing the land bridge. With me at the front moving forward, allowing my passive optical camo to make me a much harder target to see. I was ahead by several feet when I got a call over the comms.
"Two in a tower overlooking the land bridge. They seemed distracted. I am looking for more. They will be in your sights in three more of those towering rocks," Meemee informed me, and I smiled.
I loved having a drone operator already. Her drones were silent, and I crept up and paused as one rock before, where she told me I found a green-looking alien talking to someone not in my sight. They looked to be playing a game on some table, and I whispered into comms, "I got one in sight, potentially one or more just out of sight, just before I can see the tower you informed me of."
"Moving drones," Meemee reported.
I froze in my position, waiting for new information, and Meemee came in a minute later: "Okay, I got them. There are three around a table playing cards, and there are no more that I can find. There are five in total. I think I can take the two on the tower if you want to get the ones at the table."
"Got it. Moving forward, take them out in three," I said, and stepped forward slowly, watching the alien put down something. "Two," I moved forward, pulled out my handgun instead, and twisted on a recently purchased silencer attachment.
I brought it up: "One, Go." I snapped, and my finger pulled the trigger. I heard two snaps of the drones shooting.
"What the fuck~!" I heard a guy cry, and I turned the corner and saw both of them looking up, stunned by the shots the drones made. I found both of them staring stupidly looking up, and I pulled the trigger thrice, ending all of them quickly, and we moved forward quickly to secure the site. It was quick and dirty, and I decided that we needed more stealth gear.
After a couple of minutes, we looked around the little base camp that was set up to defend the land bridge, and I quickly learned that they were using this as a listening post at the most. They expected them to hold back the intruders while reinforcements came or to fight a retreating fight. We found various barricades to slow down any assault and to provide the defenders with lots of cover while denying the attackers any cover.
This would have been a pain to take down if they knew we were coming. We moved forward, securing weapons and ammo into a pile to collect later and moved forward. "SleepyWonder, I am scouting ahead, not getting any signs that they got an alarm off," Meemee reported, and I moved up till we hit the clearing.
Suddenly, we passed the land bridge and the towering rocks through a crack in the 'wall' of the island. I looked out at a hilly area and could easily see one of the bases in the distance. It was large and seriously trash-looking. It was a wall made of scrap, I thought, and I wondered if it was on purpose and where they got it from. It was a patchwork of various scrap metal and posts to hold everything up. "Meemee, please scout the first base. Emma, Enyo, come on up and start looking in the area; see if we can find a place to start a battle just in case."
Meemee moved up with Emma and Enyo but was distracted as the three of us scouted some areas. But in the end, it did not take us long to realize that the rocks, which acted like a funnel, would be the defensive position we could take.
Enyo smiled and said, "Oh, this is not only the best place to do this, but I think we should just go loud from here on. They will have to come and respond in many ways. We can also use this as a great way to retreat back to the skimmer. It is just better for us overall."
I paused to think about it as I looked at the base, but I could not see what was happening. Meemee then finally reported, "I got eyes in the base we see. I got at least ten people, SleepyWonder; there are five working on what appears to be a drilling machine and two acting as prostitutes, it seems?" Meemee said slowly, "I am unsure, but they are half naked, and both are busy with two of the males of a different kind, so I think that they are at least relieved. I don't see any weapons by them, but I do for the men. I can't see inside their buildings. I don't understand why they just did not buy some prefab plastic buildings. It would work better than these. There ar-" Meemee paused, "I got eyes on two more through holes in the building. There is one on active watch, but they are on the opposite side of the base. I think we are clear to invade. I have a visual on the next base; they are mining out with a small smoke cloud in the distance; they are at least a kilometer and a half away, as they were reported to be."
That was excellent information. "Anything else you can tell us?" I asked bluntly.
"Honestly, they are not ready for an attack. When we came in through the front, no one noticed; the walls they have have a hole in it just out of sight that came in behind them with one person there. I can set up a drone to make it sound like we are coming in from the front, and we can all come in through the back. With my drones in place, we can take out any trouble that dips into cover."
"It sounds like you have a plan, Meemee. Enyo, how does it sound to you?" I asked.
"I like the sound of it. Bring the drone down a little in altitude so it comes from the right direction, like it might be a sniper, though. Do they have a tower of some sort in there? I can't see one," Enyo said.
"No, but they have a raised platform, more or less. It is great oversight, but not a good place to stand in the coming battle." Meemee replied.
"I was thinking about whether we get a follow-up attack. I think they wrote off the first attack as them fucking around because of the bordem at the front land bridge. But they will know we are up to something this time," Enyo said, and I felt the same way.
"I agree; we will go in, capture only those who surrender quickly. One shout is all I will give them, and you kill the guy guarding the hole, understood?"
"Agreed, where do you want me?" Emma asked.
"I want you to follow up on Enyo. She is our serious firepower; protecting her back is up to you. There is every chance that Meemee missed someone. No insult, Meemee," I added quickly.
"None taken. SleepyWonder is right. I am at a bird's-eye view, looking down the rough holes into buildings, not able to come down too closely for a good look. We are all dealing with speculations. We need to move fast and hard and knock them out before they know what is happening." Meemee replied in a way that I did not expect.
Meemee sounded serious and calm while in her element. It was like she had been born for this type of fighting, and I thanked the heavens for finding this Mouse-kin because she was a real treasure.
"Alright, we are going to creep up close, Meemee. Keep an eye on them to see if we are spotted. If we are, fly a drone down, shoot from the front at the guy we were looking to kill, and see if that distracts them. If not, we will go loud a second later. We will go loud on your order, okay?"
"Copy that; going loud under my orders."
"Move forward," I snapped, and we started to cross the grassy area from the land bridge toward the first Mining camp. As we got closer, I heard the sound of the drill into the ground, and it was louder than I expected, but also quieter than I expected. My mind was tossing between what I thought it should sound like in real life and Sci-Fi, and whether there should be any sound at all.
The sound was constant but not deafening, and I realized this might be the reason they never heard us over at the land bridge. It did not matter at this point, and we moved quickly toward the back hole. Meemee spoke up, "I see us on the drones. We are almost in the guys' sight. I am shooting now." She finished, and the sound of her drone shooting resounded over the mining, and someone shut off the drill.
"WHAT WAS THAT!" someone snapped as we ran toward the back hole in the fence. I had my rifle up as I came around the corner, and I could see all of them looking the wrong way.
Some were still collecting their weapons, and I snapped, "PUT DOWN YOUR GUNS OR BE SHOT THIS IS AN ORDER!"
My voice boomed towards them, and some gasped. One turned, raising their gun, and I pointed, and I pulled the trigger without mercy. The man received a burst of three bullets up his chest, and two put up their hands.
What came next, though, was something I could barely understand as those two surrendered; there were still another dozen men in the mining camp. The women seemed to be victims of some type, but it instantly turned chaotic.
"Go LOUD!" Meemee barked, "They are arming themselves!"
No longer were we looking for prisoners; I turned, aimed at them, and shot, and the people holding up their hands dove for cover and soon came back up with handguns. I threw myself into a cover that did little more than block me from their sight, and I brought myself up just as quickly and shot.
I finger-pulled the trigger repeatedly and heard the sudden sound of something ramping up. Then- BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
The sound blasted the area before us, and a mist of blood erupted from three places.
Suddenly, people were much more willing to surrender, and Three ran out into the open, holding their hands up and tossing away their guns.
"Emma, coming from the corner, now," Meemee snapped over comms.
Suddenly, a burst from a different assault rifle came out, but I did not have time to look.
I moved forward, started clearing the base, and realized they had a massive pile of minerals or something. It seems they had made a damn cave or something and were filling it up.
We moved around quickly, and I found that the two ladies were not armed and were crawling in the dirt. We took one of the rebreathers from the dead men, and we moved around to get the situation.
Fourteen people were defending this place, including the bounty,

He now no longer had a torso to speak of from Enyo doing a sweep through the center, killing five. I killed three, Meemee two, and Emma killed a person coming up from behind, leaving us with three captured after tossing their guns away and two women that looked a little pissed off at the three men still captured. Something told me there was a story, and we were not fit to hear it.
"We got trouble, ladies," Meemee said over comms. Enyo, I think you woke the neighbors up, and they are on their way. I think we have ten minutes before they will see us."
