Volume 7 Chapter 17: Even if You Swear to Be a Good Hero, It's Too Late
(Walson)
The iron gauntlet clamped around my neck, lifting me off the ground. I grabbed onto the Hero King's metal glove with both hands, struggling to break free, but to no avail.
"Ugh..."
Using summoned angels and dragons to force the main forces to move, he himself had thrown an Ender Pearl from the front line, teleporting directly to the rear to launch an attack on me!
Never mind the technique—what he held in his hands... I should have considered this possibility long ago.
"Such weakness, such pitifulness... You know nothing of this body's true power," the Hero King said, his pale eyes staring straight into mine. An unknown, intangible force smashed into my brain.
Suddenly, a torrent of information exploded in my mind, flashes of images flooding my vision. The pain was excruciating, as though my skull would split open. Scarlet liquid filled my nasal cavity and began streaming down in a torrent.
"I... I am..."
Chains.
Hellfire.
A figure identical to me.
Imprisoned in a tower, calling for the "player," calling for their stolen body...
"I... am..."
"You are me, and I am you... Let us become one, and let the true world of the game descend. This is the purpose we were granted at birth...!"
My thoughts spiraled into chaos.
This world is riddled with inequality, riddled with imperfection.
Class, race—an ideal world should have none of these barriers. If prayers are useless, why not create a new one outright?
You see, isn't that right?
Ah, he's correct; this is how it should be.
Born from the players' destructive desires, we are the rulers of both destruction and creation—no!
This isn't me! Who's speaking in my head!?
"No, I... I should be... I should be..."
"Get away from Walson!"
A flash of icy brilliance streaked by, followed by the crisp sound of metal clashing at point-blank range. The iron hand crushing my windpipe was gone, and I fell helplessly to the ground.
Yet the torment ravaging my mind remained; the agony tearing through me didn't dissipate.
"Grace, take Walson and leave. The angels and dragons heading to the Imperial City are your responsibility now!"
"Derisha, you..."
"The battle here belongs to us, the Vassals."
"Please, be careful."
Sakura petals danced in the air, the last thing I saw before my consciousness faded entirely...

The sound of clashing steel echoed through the rain.
Hundreds of water lances formed, swirling in a vortex, slicing through the rain as they surged toward a sword-wielding figure dashing in the storm!
"Silver Sky Rain Spears!" Derisha commanded, her spear whirling through the air, cloaked in swirling water.
"Falling Radiant Slash!" The figure spun around mid-dash, his greatsword glowing with six colors as it came crashing down!
The ground split apart, rubble and dust spraying to the sides. Six-colored waves surged upward, controlled by some strange force, forming into clasped hands that lunged at Derisha!
Alwin's greatsword turned again, slashing behind him!
Clang!
The clash of weapons unleashed a shockwave, the ground caving beneath them.
A burning great axe clashed against a radiant greatsword, neither able to gain the upper hand.
"So hot..." Alwin muttered, narrowing his pale eyes.
Scorching heat radiated from the flames, evaporating all rain within several meters, carving out an oppressive, blazing space amid the downpour.
Enveloped in fire, the demon with rabbit ears wielded her massive axe, exhaling hot mist through her fanged mouth. With a stomp, she shoved Alwin back several steps.
"So painful," muttered Krista, her eyes blazing with fire. Light-based attacks worked spectacularly well against her undead nature.
"Urgh!"
Suddenly, the Command Block on Alwin's armor blinked. Particles of red potion surrounded him, multiplying the strength of the holy sword by tenfold or more. The overwhelming force sent Krista flying!
Though distance was created, Krista's offensive didn't stop. Alwin, having just unleashed a massive attack and yet to recover his stance, realized his mistake—a massive opening. A fiery hand axe spun rapidly toward his head!
Forced to roll aside, Alwin dodged, but as he rose, another fiery axe streaked toward his face!
"You..."
"Distance has its own strategies," Krista sneered in a hoarse, demonic voice. She had slung her massive axe onto her back, replacing it with a bone-handled hand axe in her left hand.
"Like this."
Another fiery axe flew toward Alwin's head. He parried it with his sword, but pain flared in his waist—another flaming axe had embedded itself into his armor.
Krista chuckled darkly as two more bone axes appeared in her hands, raised high.
Alwin growled, dragging his sword along the ground. A stone wall rose up, deflecting both the thrown axes and the fiery assault, scattering them.
As Alwin prepared to counterattack, a sudden weight pinned his legs. A gravity field pressed down as two pointed spikes erupted from the ground, stabbing toward his throat!
A purple-black stone wall materialized in front of Zakarina, deflecting the spikes. The wall morphed into sharp protrusions, but Zakarina's body glowed with white light as she nimbly leapt back.
"Too bad," Zakarina dusted off her maid uniform, the white glow representing her buffs fading. "Thanks, Belle."
"Even without sunlight, I can ignite flames at will. Gotta admit, the enchantment the Vassal of The Forest added to my axes is incredible," Krista mused, twirling her weapon. "Oh, and props to you, Alwin. You're tough to deal with."
"Summoning walls casually... it's just like Walson's power. No, even stronger," Derisha said, stepping to her comrades' side. Both sides were once again at a standoff.
"No matter how hard you try, how long can you delay me?" Alwin said, pulling the bone axe from his side. The wound that should have been severe was healing visibly fast.
"Delay? You've got it wrong, Alwin," Zakarina interrupted with a smirk. "I'll kill you here. Even if you swear to become a good hero now, it's too late."
Alwin laughed angrily, the Command Block emitting a brilliant light that engulfed his body.
He reached out, "pulling" the purple-black stone wall from the ground. Cracks ran along its surface as it crumbled, reshaping into a massive obsidian shield large enough to cover half his body.
The enchanted glow shimmered on the shield.
"Then try and kill me, if you can!"
