Chapter 280 - Volume 7 Chapter 15: The Intersection Of Fate

Volume 7 Chapter 15: The Intersection Of Fate

The torrential rain was like a curtain of water, washing away the blood while shrouding the land in a hazy, indistinct veil.

Amid the relentless sound of rain over the battlefield were mixed the wails of soldiers abandoning their armor and the dying murmurs of those taking their final breaths.

"Help, no... I don't want to die... please... aaagh!!!" A blood-stained elf soldier with broken armor crawled miserably on the ground. With the sound of a sword ringing through the air, a massive silver blade pinned him to the ground.

The soldier struggled, but threads of blood and wisps of his soul began to escape from his body, coursing along the blade and finally being absorbed by a Command Block on the weapon. The soldier's expression froze forever in terror.

"The spirits from another world make the best energy source... though it's a bit... inconvenient," said the man with dead-white eyes, looking down at the soldier's corpse.

Surrounding him was a field strewn with broken bodies; apart from the sound of rain, there was nothing but dead silence across the battlefield.

Alwin looked into the distance and called out. A silver dragon flapped its wings and descended beside him.

It was time to move on toward his destination, to obtain the elemental power of the wind.

Stepping on the soldier's corpse, Alwin pulled his greatsword out, intending to sling it back over his shoulder. But suddenly, he narrowed his eyes and paused mid-motion.

It seemed there was no need to sheathe his sword just yet.

"Alwin! Your rampage ends here!"

With a piercing cry, a Griffin swooped down from the sky. Once it landed, it scraped the ground with its claws, letting out a threatening roar. A silver-haired woman in armor, Belle, leapt from its back, swiftly drawing her [Oathkeeper — X Curry Stick] to face Alwin.

"Belle, is it?" Alwin murmured, his silver greatsword pointed at the ground as he searched his memory.

Suddenly, a deep wave of emotion stirred within Herobrine, the entity possessing Alwin.

The two of them, both children of light—the twin heroes—were now fated to clash on the battlefield. The holy silver swords they held, the greatsword and the rapier, resonated with a strange, mournful hum, as if lamenting the past they once shared.

Since their last separation, years had passed, and so much had changed. There was no going back, just like the swords they wielded now.

One was [Oathkeeper — X Curry Stick], made from Orichalcum and Mithril, while the other was [Oath Sanctifier], fused with a Command Block.

"Alwin... are you still there?" Belle's voice trembled slightly, a rare hint of emotion in her gaze.

"..."

On the other side, Alwin remained silent.

The sound of pouring rain echoed between them, alone in the empty space.

"It seems... there's nothing left to say." Belle closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, all emotion had drained away, replaced only by resolve and steel.

"White Light Slash!!!" they shouted in unison.

Their simultaneous battle cries rang out, and in an instant, the clash of metal sounded sharply in the air as the two figures vanished from their spots, blades meeting in a fierce collision.

At the point where their holy swords connected, a ripple of white energy burst forth, obliterating everything in its radius and rapidly expanding outward.

The silver dragon roared, and the Griffin with its feline face shrieked as they too grappled fiercely in battle.

"Ugh... heh heh heh..." Alwin hit the ground hard, his feet carving two long parallel tracks into the earth.

On the other side, Belle had split palms and staggered as she hit the ground, barely managing to prop herself up with her sword.

This was not just a mismatch in sword type, nor in the amount of light power they'd inherited; with just one strike, she was already...

"Ugh... you... you've grown stronger, Alwin..."

"I am not the person you knew," Alwin replied, his pale eyes narrowing. "But in respect for this body's attachment to you, I will grant you a death free of pain."

Without further words, Alwin's massive blade was suddenly at Belle's side, cleaving downward with a brilliant white flash that tore through the ground, aimed directly at her!

...

...

...

The earth-shattering blow from the greatsword split the ground open in a massive rift along the trajectory of his strike.

But the rift stopped just two meters in front of Belle, suspended abruptly.

"Who goes there!?" Alwin roared, leaping back in alarm.

Right in front of Belle, a dirt-colored spear and a bone-crafted giant axe crossed in a defensive stance, blocking what had seemed like an unstoppable blow.

"I was just enjoying my song, and suddenly, here you are, Alwin." Though rain poured down around her, each droplet evaporated before it could touch her. Krista held a pipe between her lips, her eyes gleaming with fierce excitement as her giant axe burst into flames.

"Belle, this isn't quite what we agreed on. I don't think going solo was a great idea," Derisha said, her body pulsing with the combined magic of wind and water attributes.

Her spear, Anti-Melon Spear Prototype 1.0, whirled and pointed directly at Alwin.

As Alwin stepped back, barely regaining his balance, a sudden surge of energy erupted from below, aiming directly at his throat. He detonated his own magic in a burst, propelling himself backward to dodge.

Descending lightly to the ground, a figure dressed as a maid stood resolute.

"The score from last time... I'm here to settle it." Zakarina stepped forward, her cold gaze fixed, her stance grounded like a mountain—unmovable and unwavering.

Ah, the intensity of everyone's resolve is incredible. Then again, considering our opponent, it's understandable.

[Alwin Bovk_LV 132_HP: 10819/10819 - Status: [Blessing of Light], [Otherworldly Descent] - Title: Vassal of the Light]

As expected from the Holy King of Dragons. If we set aside Lori Aivett, his level and HP are the highest I've seen in a human.

"So, given the special circumstances, this will be a one-versus-many fight. Apologies in advance, though I guess saying that now sounds a bit strange, doesn't it? What do you say, Alwin, or should I call you..."

I spoke as I walked past the others, slowly stepping up to Zakarina's side. Behind me, Grace, Meran, and Barrel were already in full battle mode.

"Ah... at last, we meet," came a simultaneous exclamation the moment our eyes met—the eyes of two warriors with the same ghostly white stare.

"The one who has stolen my body!" "Herobrine!
