Volume 7 Chapter 8: Completely Drained

(Walson)

At dawn, the sky was a pale blue, dotted with white clouds. A gentle breeze rustled through the green leaves of the bushes, and dew dripped from the branches, falling to the ground. The morning birds sang in harmony, announcing the beginning of a new day.

I rubbed my eyes, stretched, and slowly opened them, only to be greeted by Derisha's face, mere inches away from mine.

"Good morning, Walson," she said, lying on her side beside me, propping her head up with one hand, while gazing at me mischievously with a playful smile.

"Ah, morning... Did I wake you up?" I asked.

I remembered now… If I had to describe last night, well, it was quite the wild night.

Derisha's features were striking, different from the others.

Aside from her bold and lively personality, her appearance had a bit of a South Pacific flair, with her healthy tan skin.

She had a strong, curvy build, with every part that needed to be big, well, big...

Oh, and her stamina? Outmatched even Melon, and once she got started, it rivaled even Grace without her glasses on. She was relentless. Last night, I almost... Uh, I better stop before I get horny again.

"I've been awake for a while. I just wanted to watch you sleep a bit longer," Derisha said, sitting up. She had already changed into light clothing and a jacket, looking completely different from when she collapsed next to me last night.

She must have been awake for a while.

"..." That kind of remark was a bit arousing.

"Hehe, well then, I'm off to do some morning training. Take your time getting up," she said, her breast bouncing up and down as she headed outside.

Derisha looked incredibly lively, full of energy, which was quite the contrast to me, still feeling completely drained.

Why did it feel like I'd been utterly devoured?

I got dressed and, with mixed emotions, walked outside.

Derisha and Belle were already clashing weapons in the clearing, while Grace and Melon sat cross-legged, deep in meditation. Zakarina was sitting at a wooden table under a tree, elegantly sipping tea from a fancy cup, while Alice spread jam on Tanaya's bread.

The air was filled with the aroma of food, and Barella had started a fire to prepare a pot of soup.

It turned out I was the last one to wake up.

I seem to be running late more and more lately.

The morning was peaceful, with dewdrops and sunlight glistening in the air, accompanied by the scent of freshly cooked food. Barella, dressed in a simple long skirt and fur vest, with her hair tied in a ponytail, looked like a perfect picture of a caring housewife.

"Good morning, Walson. Come and have some breakfast," Barella waved at me with a spoon in hand.

I approached her to receive my bowl of soup, but as she handed it to me, she suddenly grabbed my shoulder with a mischievous smile.

"Uh, uh, hey?"

"Walson, my dear," Barella squinted with a smile, "where exactly did you go after our date last night?"

Though she was speaking with a smile, there was something undeniably terrifying about her expression.

Eeeeek?! Wait, no, my lovely wife, it's not what you think! How am I supposed to explain this?!

"Uh, well, um…"

"Hmph, honestly. I should have stayed with you longer last night… Now I'm the last one again," Barella puffed her cheeks, her face turning slightly red with mild irritation.

Huh?

"Uh, is that what you're upset about…?"

"Of course! Did you think I was some jealous, overbearing woman?" Barella pouted playfully. "So, how are you going to make it up to me?"

"I-I'll do anything! Whatever it takes!"

"Hmph. In that case… how about this?"

Before I could react, she leaned in, and in an instant, her lips met mine.

It was brief but left me utterly speechless.

With her cheeks slightly flushed, she backed away with a look of triumph mixed with shyness.

"Uh…" I stammered, staring into her eyes, completely at a loss for words.

Wait, uh, this might sound strange coming from me, but… I am not worthy of this level of forgiveness! I'm so touched, I can't even…

You're not just a good wife, you're an angel!!

"Alright, go enjoy your breakfast. Today's special is river fish soup," she said.

My wife is really an angel!

As I carried the soup towards the table, brimming with joy, I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine.

I turned towards the source of the cold feeling and saw Grace, now finished with her meditation, glaring at me with puffed-up cheeks.

"Pfft, well, at least I'm not the one who has to punish you," I heard Barella chuckle behind me.

I take it back.

You're a demon, wife!!

At the breakfast table, I shrank into myself, silently sipping my soup. Grace sat across from me, not saying a word, but her intense gaze pierced right through me, making me shiver.

If looks could kill, I'd be dead.

Just then, a female voice began to echo through the air, gradually getting closer until it finally stopped nearby in the mushroom forest surrounding us.

The person responsible for the voice came into view, and we all finally saw the singer.

"Fire leads the way forward, listen to the whispers of the elves… Ah, the elements have truly gathered here. Earth, Forest, Water, and Light, along with me, Zakarina. Just as you said, it's a full set of Vassals. Too bad Wind and Dark aren't here; otherwise, we'd be complete," the woman said.

She wore a long leather coat that flowed in the wind, with ruby-red hair and rabbit ears perched atop her head. A long-stemmed pipe hung loosely from her lips, and her whole demeanor had a carefree, slightly rebellious charm.

"I've been waiting for you. You're quite late," Zakarina said without even glancing at her, calmly stirring her tea with a small spoon.

"I was on my way back to the main base. If you'd contacted me any later, I might have missed you altogether," she casually sat down at the table, right next to Grace and diagonally across from me.

"It's been a while, Vassal of The Forest. How's my offer coming along?" she said, addressing me with a familiarity that was slightly unsettling. "Or have you already forgotten who I am?"

"...How could I forget?" I sighed. I didn't expect her to actually show up.

The Vassal of The Flame, the reincarnation of the Skeleton Archer.

"Long time no see, Krista."
