"I'm not sure what you mean." Orphus says. I lift his arm looking at the amount of muscle these creatures have.
"How often did you guys workout?" I ask.
"Never, the only training we did was sparring."
"Seriously?!"
"Yes sir." Orphus says.
"What about what you ate?" I ask looking at little slits on his side.
"We have a purely carnivorous diet. We only eat whatever we can find on worlds we enter into."
"You don't get fed?" I ask.
"No sir only if we do an exceptional job, or if we survive long enough to be promoted."
"What are those little slits on your side?"
"That's how we breathe. It's very advanced and filters all toxins out and makes any air suitable to breathe in. Kind of like what you humans have that goes on your face." Orphus says.
"A gas mask?"
"Yes! That's it a gas mask." He says.
"How do you know about that?" I ask concerned.
"Oh we do extensive research on the planet we're going to take over. Like how I know about your crisis and how we wouldn't even have to invade to take over you will all kill each other off before we do. Although that'll take a very long time it will happen."
"With war and stuff?" I ask.
"Well yes but also the exhaustion of material and the amount at which you produce is absurd for how much food you have."
"Anyways that's beside the point." I say. "So do all of you do that research?" I ask.
"Oh no, only the top fighters do. Which includes Torg and one other which we have not found." Orphus says.
"How strong is he?" I ask.
"He won't be difficult he's lower than me and Torg."
"But he's still useful?"
"If you think Yumen is, then yes he's very useful." Orphus says turning.
"Ok back to what I'm doing. So what weaknesses do you have?" I ask. "I'm guessing something that has to do with how you breathe."
"The only weakness is if you can close them up although it's difficult it can be done. Although none of the glue or tape you have will be able to seal them shut." Orphus says.
"But it's been done before?" I ask wondering if it's possible to stop these things.
"Yes, a long time ago we invaded a planet with a plant on it that produced an extremely sticky substance. The species living there lathered it on our sides suffocating most of our recon force. They couldn't fight to save their life so they hid in the ground and would dig up, stick it on our sides, and disappear. Frighteningly effective and the only time we've ever retreated from an invasion."
"What was the substance? Maybe I can buy it in the shop."
"I do not know but the plant it came from was their equivalent to your white lotus plant."
'Shop.'
[Welcome player!]
'White lotus.'
[White lotus flower 10 gold]
'Not the flower.' I think the screen goes away and is replaced with another screen saying there's nothing else under the name of white lotus. 'Physical only then' I think. Their heads are wide and shaped a little like a triangle. 'Easy target.' I think.
"I think that's all, Orphus." I say. He nods and turns back into the shadow, I flop on my bed exhausted.
"Where are you?"
"Are you good???"
"Hello?"
"Why aren't you at class?"
"Uggghhhhh." I groan rolling over and checking my phone. "SHIT!" I yell looking at the time, I'm 20 minutes late to school. Hanna and Josh have been texting me non-stop.
"Slept in a little too late." I respond while brushing my teeth. 'How did this happen?' I think to myself throwing on a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt, finally sprinting out of the door to go to school 25 minutes late.
"Slept in a little too late?" Hanna responds.
"Yes my alarm didn't go off." I reply turning a corner.
"Well we had a test today so you're gonna have to make that up."
"Kill me now." I say to myself bursting through the doors.
"You're a little late." Our homeroom teacher says. "You can give me a good reason or I can give you a tardy."
"I was up helping my dad fixing his uh, his cat I mean his car!" I say.
"HA!" He exclaims doubling over laughing. "That is the saddest excuse ever!" He says in between deep breaths. "You're good though, that's a new excuse fixing your dads cat."
'You idiot.' The god says. 'That sucked ass.'
'Ok I get it, Iknow.' I think to myself.
"Fixing his cat?" Josh asks.
"Shut up." I say waiting for another grueling eight hours of nothing.
