The townsmen are happy and grateful of the heroic deeds of Jessica. "Thank you Ms. Cultivator. You saved our mortal lives." said the old man who appears to the the lord. "No need." said Jessica while bashfully looking away. This always happen when Jessica saved someone who is a "Mortal".
Still, the townsmen are packing their supplies. "Why do you still need to leave?" asked Jessica with raised eyebrow. The lord sighed then said, "You see, these gentlemen are cultivators from a sect nearby. They want to strike thunder upon us because we didn't pay our tribute. We are afraid of further angering their leader, so we will be leaving this town for good."
"What a shame!" shouted Jessica with angry tone. The townsmen are sad. There is no convincing them to stay. It is not like Jessica is obliged to be the hero. Jessica said, "Fine, but let me check the wounded first." The lord is thankful for the help.
Jessica's Heal comes into play when it comes to closing wounds. The injuries from the last battle slowly recovered. The people call Jessica a Saint. Up until now, she is weak to compliments. After healing the last injured, she helped pack supplies in carriages until they are full.
"Ms. Cultivator, thank you again for your benevolent deed. Please take this jade pendant." said the lord, as he hand out a peculiar carved jade pendant. The carved word is "Wu". "Thank you very much." said Jessica, gladly taking the jade.
"How about coming with us?" said by the young girl. Jessica shook her head. She said, "I will be staying here for a while. And don't worry. I am stronger than I look." The townsmen are anxious, but trust her word. "May I know your name, Ms. Cultivator?" asked the lord. Jessica place her right hand near the lord's right hand. She answered, "Jessica. My name is Jessica and I am a Mage."
The lord is surprised. Shocked but he holds her right hand and shake. "It is a pleasing moment to know you, Ms. Je Sika." said the lord with a warm smile. The townsmen then abandoned the town for safety. Jessica stayed, expecting the bandits will come for revenge.
Before that, she makes her dinner, eats it, then sleeps in a random house. She will be ready for battle tomorrow.
The next day, Jessica checks her status. Her current INT is 45. This status shows how powerful her spell damage will be. And her mana pool is larger than before. About 950 mana points. She also has 15 STR. Despite not having proper Martial Arts, her fist can knock down a healthy wolf. The other stats remain at 5. Since she prioritize finishing fights with powerful blows, she didn't upgrade her AGI for movement speed. The same can be said for VIT. The thought of having higher hit points is great for survivability, but she wants to deal higher damage. She is wondering if she needed to increase her DEX for accuracy, if she will gonna use AoE skills in the future.
Jessica's basic gear is cotton shirt, cotton cargo pants, some stylish boots, some stylish arm guards, and a sword prop tied to her waist with a black belt. The clothes are customized for Jessica by some seamstress she helped back then. The purpose is for comfortable wear and last long from fighting. The boots and the arm guards are robbed from her enemies who attacked her. She thought these were loot because of how they look. The sword is fake. It is a wooden sword prop that is oddly looks real at first glance.
"I am just gonna wait for my enemies to come." said Jessica in her mind. She practice her spells on wooden dummies in the empty training ground. Her Rock Burst are pretty much guaranteed to hit because of its size and number. The Fireball and Thunderbolt can cause AoE damage, though preferably, she don't want to use Fireball.
She is so focused on training she failed to notice one's presence. An observer hidden in distance. "How strange." said the mysterious person.
