Chapter 243 - Chapter 243

I smile a little and feel the warm sun above me. It is the right decision to take a vacation in this small village. The people are friendly and more than eager to serve us. We receive VIP treatment, and that is exactly what we need.

My new house is finally finished. The construction crew works fast when they are paid enough, especially since the building is mundane. Magical construction would triple or even quadruple the time required to build.

We have a large backyard, planted with enough trees and vegetables to feed the village for a day or two when harvested. However, we use the trees for shade because we enjoy the warm sun and the cool breeze.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. For me, it is when a Kaleidoscope portal appears next to me. I sit on the ground and release a sigh. It does not take long before the old vampire walks through the portal with his usual grin.

However, there is something different about him. I immediately notice familiar mana clinging to his body and soul. I look at him in shock.

"Y-You!"

"Yup~ I am finally able to ignite the spark within me!"

"You are a Planeswalker now?!"

"Yes! You don't know how excited I am to notice that I have the same spark as you, though muted and unawakened. After thousands of hours of work and experiments, I am finally able to ignite my spark."

"Thousands of hours? I saw you just last week, Zelretch."

"You know that I can manipulate time to a certain extent. There is also the fact that I spend time in worlds where time moves faster than here."

"Right. What kind of worlds are you visiting, Zelretch, now that you have planeswalker abilities?"

"I only visit one world, which requires me to wait for a month before I can use it once again."

"Can I look at your spark?"

"Of course, go ahead."

I look deeper into his soul, ignoring the inhuman elements and other things floating around it. I focus on his spark and immediately notice an invisible chain around it. The chain is absolute and cannot be broken. It is the Mending Chain.

I leave his soul and look at Zelretch.

"You have Post-Mending planeswalker power. The Mending Event is a Multiverse event that reduces the power of Old Planeswalkers so they can no longer travel through time or break the rules of reality itself. I have Pre-Mending power, while you possess a Post-Mending Planeswalker Spark."

"Really? Maybe I should search for a way to break this so-called mending."

"No. Don't do that, you Old Vampire. There are a lot of powerful Old Planeswalkers out there. They can break reality with a sneeze if they receive their old powers. It is better to let them be."

Zelretch looks at me for a few seconds before releasing a sigh and nodding his head in understanding.

"I understand. It is a shame, but I understand. At least I can still travel through time using my True Magic, and I can combine my magic with this Planeswalker power. It allows me an easier time when I need to arrive at a specific moment in a specific worldline."

"Does that mean you can truly perform Time Travel?"

"No. Not a TRUE time travel, but rather entering an alternate universe that only has a VERY small difference, such as one tree that is 1 inch shorter than the original world."

"I see. Because of your True Magic, you can skip the randomness of the jump, and the spark allows you to be more detailed in your control."

"Yup~ Don't forget the Colored Mana! Those things are something else, alright. Sadly, I need a few minutes to connect with the land. That must be another difference between us. If you want, you can use the land you claim to give you hundreds, if not thousands, of mana by force. As for me, what I receive is what I get, and I need to meditate to get that mana back. At least I do not need to recharge the mana in that location."

He then looks at me with a grin on his face. I release a sigh and know trouble is coming. That is a smile that spells trouble, and when it is coming from Zelretch, it is 100% something regular people cannot handle.

"What do you want?"

"Come with me! Teach me how to control this power."

"You know that I am also new to this, right? I might have this power longer than you; I am still new to this."

"No matter! Your power gives you an instinctual manual, but mine does not. I need to learn about the Blind Eternities and maybe receive a small glimpse that allows me to control my power better."

It is troublesome, but Zelretch is someone who helps me a lot. Denying him this favor after everything he has done for my family and me would be a dick move. Showing him around is not a problem, and it is not a difficult favor to fulfill.

I finish my juice and look at Yasaka, who smiles and nods her head. I kiss her forehead and look back at the old vampire.

"Alright. Let's do this."

"You guys make it as if we are going to war. We are not, you know?"

"Following across the multiverse is equal to going to war."

"That is… fair. Hurtful, but fair. Anyway, come on! Let's jump. I cannot take others with me when I attempt to planeswalk."

"Wait. You have tested that on someone, haven't you?"

"Irrelevant."

"Right. Let's go."

With a wave of my hand, I open a portal to the Blind Eternities and say.

"Come on."

Zelretch happily enters the Blind Eternities, and this time, I don't need to protect him. His spark creates a barrier, but it is only for himself. However, instead of swimming out of the Blind Eternities, we stay here and let Zelretch do whatever he needs to do.

I watch him take various items from his ring and perform all kinds of scanning spells on the area around us.

We stay here for an unknown amount of time as I show him around by jumping from one world to another. We choose random worlds, and he scans the way I jump, writes it down, and attempts to copy it. Sadly, he cannot. According to him, his spark isn't strong enough to attempt that kind of jump.

According to him, my spark is like a spaceship capable of an FTL jump. It can continuously jump from one star system to another without a problem. His spark, on the other hand, is like a lunar rocket. It can be used only once and needs time to be prepared before performing another jump to the moon.

We continue performing tests in the Blind Eternities until Zelretch finds something interesting.

"Desire. That is the biggest trigger for spark holders to ignite their sparks."

"Really? That's it?"

"That's it. However, it requires an intense desire. So intense that the Blind Eternities shudder. However, for it to succeed, it requires luck and a perfect body to contain the spark's power. You can ignite your spark, but you will not survive the ignition if not for the other requirement. I can artificially awaken someone's spark using your unique spark, but it requires a soul as flexible as mine. I don't think anyone other than the holder of Second True Magic is able to do it."

"I see."

"Anyway! Look at those purple strands around us. Not the normal ones, but the ones containing weird energy."

I follow his gaze and immediately notice what he is pointing at. I can see them; strings floating around the Blind Eternities, and each of them contains foreign energy. It is not mana. Interesting.

"What are those?"

"Those are desires. Well, it is not desire in its pure form but rather a trace of desire that is able to reach the Blind Eternities. They are strong enough to reach this place, but not strong enough to awaken their sparks. There are a lot of them, countless in fact. Do you want to take one and fulfill their desire?"

"Yeah, sure."

With a grin, Zelretch takes one of the strands, and we follow it through the Blind Eternities. When we arrive, a portal appears, and we go through it. However, as we step through the portal, we arrive in the middle of a combat zone.

I watch what looks like a cyborg and a failed mech suit facing off, while the one with the desire hides behind the rubble. It is a woman with a pastel rainbow gradient color. She looks familiar, but I don't recall from where. The cyborg looks at us and says.

"Who are you, meat?"

I look at the cyborg who points his weapon at me and turns to Zelretch.

"I blame you for this."
