Chapter 208 - Chapter 208

|3rd POV|

The world changes at a very fast pace. Zelretch immediately takes action. Using his Kaleidoscope, he overlaps the world with layers from its alternate self to ensure the mundane people do not notice the change.

What changed?

The first one is that the laws of the world are starting to change. The Law of Man weakened, and the Primordial Law from the Age of Gods returned. What do these laws do to the real world? It overrides what Mankind knows of this world. The laws of physics get wonky, and Zelretch needs to focus on the layer so the two laws coexist instead of fighting for dominance with each other.

If he lets it be, a lot of humans will be dead. Airplanes will have a hard time flying because the Law of Man is weakened, and the same is happening with submarines. Satellites in space will fall to Earth and create a lot of damage.

However, he is not the only one doing that. To his left, Yasaka closes her eyes and controls the influx of tainted energy entering her body. Without her perfect control, she would have already entered her true form by now.

Sadly for her, her transformation spell broke, and the other can see her nine tails swaying around behind her back. Some of the greedy and arrogant magi are already planning on capturing her and doing an unthinkable thing against her.

However, before they can even think of a way to do that, something materializes in the hallway of the Clock Tower.

There are thirty people, and they are powerful. These people are the Counter Guardians, and they are here on the order of Alaya and Gaia.

A man with white hair, grey eyes, and tanned skin walks forward. He summons twin blades in his hand and says.

"These people are the honored guests of the World. Anyone who dares to even think of taking their hair will be exterminated."

That makes the magi in the hallway stop thinking of kidnapping them. However, their mind immediately thinks of getting something out of them through sweet talk and seduction.

As for the planet itself, it is slowly healing. With the Law of Man weakening, the planet can combat the pollution mankind releases without care. Plants get more vibrant, as if they are just getting food for a long time.

However, that is not the only thing that is happening in the world. The veil between the Reverse Side of the World and the Real World is temporarily weakened. It is something that even Zelretch cannot prevent with his Kaleidoscope.

Miracles happen to the people who believe in God. Cancer patients get cured from their ailment, and people who die from getting stabbed get their wounds closing up at a very fast pace. In the future, this day will be known as the Day of Miracles, and religious people will get even more zealous about the miracle.

The Holy Church must work harder to ensure the Moonlight World stays hidden.

They are happy with these miracles, but they also know that it can cause problems in the future if the zealot mundane people get overzealous with their worship and do something stupid like igniting a Holy War.

When they know why this is happening, they immediately send their agents to ensure peace is achieved or at least as peaceful as possible. The last World War is bad news because it accelerates the Death of the World by five hundred years, and they don't want Gaia or Alaya to send their attack dogs to make sure the planet stays healthy after its recovery.

The situation in the Clock Tower gets even more tense when creatures from legend appear near Yasaka and Ryan. They are the Gaia Beasts and the creatures that are willing to kill any humans they get their hands on.

However, they are strangely calm and do not attack any of the humans near them. The only thing they do is growl and release a roar when humans get close to them.

"What should we do now, Lady Barthomelou?"

Lorelei releases a sigh and rubs the bridge of her nose as she knows this will cause a lot of headaches. However, she knows getting involved with Gaia, and Alaya is something she cannot stop or even is willing to get involved with.

"Let them be. We can only wait for Zelretch to be done, making sure the barrier between worlds does not break."

Lorelei looks at the shimmering mana in the air and the crack in the barrier between worlds of interest. She wants to study them and maybe gain an insight to get close to the Root. She looks at the Counter Guardians and knows she needs to be careful not to make them attack her while she studies the layer of the world.

She hates this situation. It is like waiting for a Powder Keg ready to explode.

However, there is nothing she can do at the moment but wait, and while waiting, she wants to study the phenomenon that is happening in the Clock Tower. Maybe she can learn some things about True Magic from studying the manifested fabric that separates the Law of Physics and the Law of Mystery.

===||===

It takes Ryan two days straight before the planet itself stops sending all the tainted energy to him. When he opens his eyes, the first thing he sees is Zelretch panting on the ground. His face is drenched with sweat.

The old vampire looks at him and says.

"Next time we visit one of the alternate universes, I will stay back and let my counterpart do the work."

"What happened? Are you alright? Do you need healing?"

"No. I don't need healing. I am just tired. I never worked my magic this hard, except when I fought the Crimson Moon. Making sure the fabric between two worlds stays intact is a lot of work." Zelretch looks at Ryan and says, "What about you? Are you okay? Your mate needs to release all those energies she absorbs."

"Yasaka! Where is she? Is she okay?"

Ryan looks around and notices the lack of Yasaka. He cannot even feel her presence, even with the boosted sense from all the meditation.

"Ah, don't worry about her. She needs to expel the excess energy inside her body, so I send her to another world so she can go all out. She decides to train as well as get a hang of her new power."

"Right. As long as she is okay. How is the other? We do not cause any problems, right?"

"Oh, you did. However, it is not because of the rush of energy but rather the aftermath of it. Do you think the world will not change because of what you have been doing?"

"Nope. I know this will cause problems, but I hope it is not destructive."

"Luckily, it is not. However, it does create a lot of work for the Magi."

"What kind of problem?"

"Well, the first one is to create a barrier in a certain area."

"Huh? Why?"

"The modern Magi do not have a magic circuit that is good enough to handle the healed planet. Some of the magi died, burned from the inside, because they were too late to enter a shelter."

"Am I in trouble because of that?"

"Hah! If they try to do anything stupid, those attack dogs will do unspeakable things to them."

Ryan looks to the side and sees people standing not too far away from them. All of them are holding weapons, and he knows a few of them. He can see the famous or infamous EMIYA, the Counter Guardian Shiro.

"Counter guardians or servants?"

"The first one. They are here to guard you. Fortunately, I managed to tell Arc to leave or there will be a bloodbath in here."

"Arc?"

"My adopted granddaughter, Arcueid."

"Ah, her. Yeah. That is good."

I get up and say.

"So! What should we do next? The planet is satisfied and willing to let me go. I have time before it tries to dump all its problems on me once again."

"First things first, we need to visit the Director of the Clock Tower. He wants to talk with you."
