folding the last piece of clothing she wanted to leave with, she was about to zip up her box when she eyes caught the picture laying carelessly on her bed, stretching her hands towards it...she picked it up, taking in a deep breathe she muttered "mum...i finally got into college, it wasn't the ones i applied for and it still seems suspicious to me but i'm taking the first chance i get to leave this house" pausing a bit she grazed her finger through her mother's face "i dont know if your dead or alive...but if you are alive i promise i won't stop until i find you"
dropping the picture in her box she closed it setting it up properly, the knock on the door drew her attention "who is it?" she asked, "it's Ronald miss" a voice at the other side answered, that was her driver, he was more like a father to her than her actual father could ever be "what do you want" she asked...but he wasn't her father. "the boss is waiting for you" he answered, her brows furrowed, 'the boss' as in her dad was waiting for her, what for? she wondered
"okay i'll be down in a minute" saying that she heard footsteps walk away from her door. rolling her box towards the door with her bag safely tucked in her back, she turned around taking one last look at her room, it wasn't huge but it wasn't small either, she had the option to chose a bigger room but she picked this one cause it felt the coziest. she was going to miss her bed the most, heaving a deep sigh "bye room...i'll see you when i get back" she said turning the knob she opened the door walking out of the room, closing the door she locked it with her keys, the last thing she wanted was bryan wondering into her room.
walking down the stairs with her box in hand, she sees her father standing at the foot of the stairs staring at his watch, turning to ronald "are you sure...she's coming down" he asked hastily "if you're in a hurry you should leave, why are you still waiting" hearing her voice her father looked up, his green eyes the only feature she inherited from him staring at her "you're here" he trailed
reaching the bottom of the stairs she hummed, pushing her box towards ronald for him to carry "take it to the car...i'll meet you there" she instructed, taking the bag ronald walked away towards the entrance of the house. turning to her dad with her face turned away from him she asked "why are waiting, you should have gone by now"
"i wanted to see you off" her heart sank, she cursed herself for expecting he'd be the one to take her to school, "oh.." she replied not saying another word, the silence between them was deafening, standing there for a few seconds without saying anything to each other she faced him "well if this is you seeing me off...good bye dad" she said turning to walk to the door "i bought you several sets of glasses just in case one broke you'd have more to spare" he said stretching his hand with a black bag towards her, turning she took the bag muttering a thank you she proceeded to walk to the door. turning the knob "your mom is dead...don't go looking for her" his voice sounded behind her.
blinking away the tears in her eyes she walked out of the house, walking to her driver waiting at the side of the car, walking to the passenger side he opened the door for her to sit. inside the car she took one more look at her house, her dad stood at the entrance watching her leave with visible distress on his face.
the car drove away from the house into the highway, taking out the map the academy sent her, she handed it to Ronald "follow the directions on this map" she said, taking the map he responded "yes ma'am". turning her head to the window she didn't speak, staring lost in thought outside the window, soon they reached a road leading into the woods, ronald slowed down the car, puzzled at why the map led them into the woods.
feeling the car slow down Emilia looked up "what is it?" she asked looking at the road before them "the map is leading us into the woods ma'am...are you sure the instructions on this map is correct" ronald replied, emilia's brows drew together, why would the academy give wrong directions, maybe ronald took a wrong turn "lemme see the map" she said, handing her the map, she scanned it, they were going the right directions "keep going" she said, handing the map back to him...they've already been driving for hours they can't go back now
taking the map, ronald hit accelerate to slightly increase the speed of the car, soon the road became covered in fog, looking at her phone the signal had disappeared, she was starting to feel unsettled, questioning her decisions, what if the letter was fake, maybe it was kidnappers trying to get to her, she thought of telling ronald to turn back but they were already deep in the fog, with only the road ahead she couldn't see the anything behind or beside them. she felt fear creeping in
and just to make matters worse a group of bats flew over their car, deciding that turning back was the best choice "Ronald...."
"miss i see a gate" he said driving to stop in front of the college gate, Emilia looked at the tall gate in front of them, the fog had cleared significantly for her to see the school building, it was the definition of an old abandoned church, the statues placed at the top of the building made it look even more creepier, did she just travel back in time to the victorian era. suddenly the gate opened on its own
'what in the creepy novel did i just walk into', driving into the college environment she became more stunned, there was a fountain in the middle of the open ground, a statue of three cupids with their bows drawn facing different sides water spilling through their mouth. "you're joking" she muttered under her breath, the car came to a halt...ronald walked out of the driver's seat walking towards where she sat opening the door for her.
coming down from the car, she consciously told herself to keep her mouth closed, just as ronald was bringing out her luggage, a woman walked up to her...with a kind smile "welcome to celestial academy" she said, Emilia bowed her head slightly whispering thank you.
the lady standing in front of her was stunning, a bit on the pale side but with the red lipstick on her lips made her look like she stepped out of a marilyn monroe movie, her black hair was styled in a neat slick back, but her eyes were red which was a very rare eye colour practically non existent. Emilia stared curiously "you have a very unique eye color" she said, earning a smile from the lady "thank you dear but it isn't as unique as you think" she said, puzzling Emilia
ronald walked towards them with Emilia's box, ready to follow behind them, seeing this her smile grew wider "oh that won't be necessary you can leave the luggage there someone will take care of it" she said, waving her hand at ronald. Emilia turned nodding for him to obey "also he can go from here" the lady added.
"uhh....miss the fog on the way here is really thick, I'm afraid he might not be able to find his way back" Emilia stated, "the map will lead him safely back...you don't have to worry about that young lady" the lady replied, turning her back to her "now let me show you around our prestigious celestial academy"
emilia followed behind her quietly looking at the buildings around her, the buildings looked old yet well maintained, the stoned walls were dark, looking up to the sky the fog covered the sun making the school feel eerie "does the sun ever shine in this place" the muttered out loud, not knowing she just spoke her thoughts "oh no dearie, but you can always see the moon and the stars when night falls" the lady replied, Emilia folded her lips realizing she just spoke out loud.
she said nothing else quietly following behind the lady, she had so many questions but she would get her answers in the school library later, "class is currently in session...i will take you to your dorm, so you can change into your uniform and head to class" the lady said, "we wear uniforms?!" Emilia spoke surprised.
"why yes darling...how else will we know what clan you belong too, its a custom that has been set for ages, you don't have to worry you'll get used to it" the lady replied.
after a few turns they stood in front of wooden door, Emilia guessed that was her room, opening the door the lady stepped aside to let her walk into her room, "i'll leave you to change into your uniform, if you need anything someone will always be there to guide" the lady spoke still with her never falling sweet smile.
smiling back emilia nodded confirming that she understood "good..." the woman trailed, stepping forward towards Emilia her eyes narrowed a bit "but i must say....you do have very unique eyes" the smile faltering on the lady's face making Emilia's heart skip a beat, and as if it never happened her smile came back "oh well...see you around Emilia" she said walking away her heels echoing down the hallway.
