Chapter 156 - Visiting the zoo before saying goodbye to Sofia

The pilot and his comrades were walking along the platform, wondering where to go.

The girl, Kasha, spoke to the pilot and suggested an idea:

"I'm tired of traveling long distances. I think we should take the plane — it shortens the journey. And we could spend a few hours here in this beautiful place.

I cannot leave until my lungs are filled with its fresh air and the fragrance of its flowers reaches my soul. I want to walk through its gardens, shop in its markets, and visit the zoo. I don't even feel as if I'm walking on ordinary ground.

I love to walk when it rains. Did you hear my sister's voice? She visited this place once and she was singing:

'Here is the heart of the sun, here the clouds are fleeting, the rains do not last, and the sun's rays warm all corners.

You sing like my heart. I wish my sister would come here so I could embrace her in your warmth.'"

Pilot: "We've walked a lot. I heard you singing to your sister. Look, a plane just flew over us — the airport must be close. I accept your idea. But before that, let's take a walk. There's the zoo right in front of us — I just read a sign pointing to it."

Kasha nodded happily, and they all went to the zoo. She was delighted to see the birds and kept asking them playfully, "Have you met my sister in the clouds?" When she saw the big cats, she laughed and called out: "Have you met my aunt's dog?"

Meanwhile, the commander and the pilot were staring at the enormous elephant. They called to Kasha: "Come here, look at the elephant!"

She ran to them, her eyes shining, and said: "How I love seeing elephants!"

Afterwards, they went to a garden restaurant, where they ate plenty of pizza and drank banana juice.

The pilot glanced at his watch and said: "We're running out of time. Let's go shopping. The mall is near the park."

They entered a trading post. The girl bought a dress and shoes for herself, as well as gifts for her mother and sisters. The pilot and the commander bought trousers and shoes. The pilot then smiled at Kasha and said:

"Don't worry about your father. I'll buy him two pairs of trousers, two shirts, and two pairs of shoes."

After finishing their shopping, they left the store, took a taxi, and headed straight to Sofia International Airport.
