"Keith, is three thousand a month a little too low for you?"
"Are you giving me a raise?" Keith Coleman's face lit up with excitement.
Melody Monroe held up one hand.
Keith: 'Five hundred... thousand? No, impossible. Fifty thousand? Also impossible! It must be a raise to five thousand, right?' A wave of secret delight washed over him.
'At the very least, he was getting a raise!'
'As for how many zeros came after it, that didn't matter. They were all zeros anyway.'
"I'll raise your salary by five hundred a month."

He pulled a card from his pocket, handed it to Melody Monroe, and turned to run out the door!
