Just then, several uniformed officers walked over.
"Who called the police?"
"I did!" Rose Shaw answered.
Wayne Payne froze for a moment, then immediately said to the officers, "You have to investigate this thoroughly! Find out who spiked the drink!"
"Can someone describe what happened?"
"I can," Melody Monroe said, stepping forward. "Eileen Scott proposed a toast. About ten to fifteen minutes later, this happened."
"Who brought the drinks at that time?"
"It was me. I'm a server here. It's my first day on the job. I don't even know who Eileen Scott is. The drinks were all the same, brought over from the bar."
The officers immediately went to the bar and took a sample of the drinks.
"Did anything happen while you were carrying the drinks? For example, did anyone deliberately approach you?"
"Yes! Now I remember. A man bumped into me slightly."
"Who was it?"
"I think it was Eileen Scott's assistant. The one who knocked Eileen out."
